The department of supervision had discovered that he and Damian were related and suspected further issues. That was why Marco had sought Angela out.
"Ms. Graham, I need you to take a look at this. I made a mistake trying to cover for my uncle today, but I haven't caused any other issues." Marco looked distressed and wanted to plead for forgiveness.
Yet, Angela sensed that something was amiss. She spoke in a soothing tone, carefully watching his reaction as she continued, "Why not clarify your mistakes now before others discover them? If they do, it could severely damage your reputation."
Marco's eyes betrayed a deep sense of guilt as he lowered his head, utterly at a loss.
Angela ignored him. Then, she sent Clara a WhatsApp message after leaving the company, asking her to investigate Marco and find out about any issues he might have.
Dexter had been quietly observing her. He remarked nonchalantly, "You've changed a lot. Even though Graham Group is small, you've managed it well. Impressive."
It was clearly meant as a compliment, but it sounded odd coming from him.
Angela shot him a frustrated glare. "How many Bamford family businesses exist in this world? And how many Dexters are there?"
Dexter smiled and shot her an amused glance. "I'll consider that a compliment. Given your exquisite taste, let me treat you to a meal."
"I wasn't going to foot the bill anyway." Angela scoffed, rolling her eyes.
She suddenly realized their relationship had changed. They were neither lovers nor spouses, and they could hardly be considered friends.
Yet, something felt indescribably off. There was always a nagging feeling that snapped them out of their good spirits, leaving them unsettled and aware that something was amiss.
