"What?" Angela lowered her head, carefully chewing over Dexter's words, yet something still felt off. Was it really just a coincidence?
Was Zack really this unlucky? A friend invited Zack out, and a random guy just joined the party. By pure chance, someone just happened to be doing something shady, and Zack just so happened to get caught up in it?
"Is there a possibility that this was a deliberate cover-up?" Angela pondered for a moment before looking up at Dexter.
Right then, Dexter's expression was particularly serious when he said, "No. I looked into his movements over the past two days.
"Other than going between the store and home, the only time he went anywhere else was to a supermarket near the store to buy two ice creams. After work, he went straight home to play games as usual. There was nothing suspicious about his behavior."
Angela frowned deeply. "Have you found the friend who tempted him to go drinking?"
"His name is Dylan Burch. He's being brought here right now. He probably figured out that you and I would come looking for him, so he tried to run in advance," Dexter said.
With her hands on her hips, Angela paced back and forth in the room.
She was trying to figure out who would want to harm Zack. Was there anything about Zack that made him a worthwhile target for a setup?
Or was the real goal to use him to get to her?
At that thought, Angela couldn't help but frown. She believed that was a possibility.
"Stop overthinking." Dexter snapped his fingers in front of her. "Get some rest first. Once Zack wakes up, we'll ask him what happened."
After breathing in and out multiple times, Angela suppressed her frustration.
A few hours later, Zack finally returned to normal and regained consciousness.
