Dexter walked out of the visiting room, his expression looking fairly good.
"Well? What did he tell you?" Angela stepped forward eagerly, her eyes filled with anticipation.
"There's a new lead. You don't need to worry about it, though." Dexter patted her shoulder, only then noticing that her complexion wasn't great. She looked a little pale.
She had been running around constantly these past few days, barely getting any rest.
"Go home and rest. By the time you wake up, I'll have found the person responsible. All you need to do is decide how to deal with them," Dexter said.
Angela looked surprised. "Zack gave you a lead? What could he possibly know from inside this place?"
"Someone came to see him today, trying to turn him against you. That's why he called us," Dexter explained briefly.
Angela's eyes grew wide. She was able to understand a few important things from just those short sentences.
First, the mastermind behind all this was growing impatient. Soon, they would reveal themselves.
Second, Zack hadn't actually become distant from her because of this incident. Otherwise, he wouldn't have asked them to come.
"Don't worry. He doesn't blame you for sending him here. He's just afraid you'll abandon him." Dexter sighed deeply. "That punk may not seem smart, but he's actually quite sharp. Let's treat him better from now on."
Angela suddenly felt like crying. Her tears threatened to fall, but she held them back.
"I'll head back to get some sleep. You handle the rest," she said. "Let me know when you have results."
With that, she turned and walked away.
As Dexter watched her thin figure disappear, his lips curled into a smile.
Perfect. This was exactly what he wanted.
