Freya tactfully hid behind Angela and Zack, trying to minimize her presence as much as possible.

Angela glanced at him, feeling that his thin face exuded a sense of righteousness. She couldn't help but develop a favorable impression of him. "Are you Maverick Newton?"

Maverick frowned, staring intently at Angela, whose expression was layered with complexity. He said firmly, "Who are you then? No matter who you are, leave my house now."

"He doesn't even recognize the CEO. What good can he be?" Zack thought, casting a doubtful glance at Maverick before shifting his gaze to Freya.

Freya felt even more awkward and murmured, "Mr. Newton, this is Ms. Angela Graham, the CEO of Graham Group. You must have seen her picture online, right?"

Maverick was nonchalant. "So what? I've already submitted my resignation. I'm no longer a part of Graham Group, and I have nothing to do with it. Stop bothering me."

He seemed quite irritated.

"Mr. Newton, Bryan has already been dealt with by Ms. Graham. He won't be able to target you anymore. You're so capable and principled.

"If you don't work for Ms. Graham, you'll regret it sooner or later," Freya spoke quickly, desperately trying to persuade Maverick to stay at Graham Group. If he stayed, it would also earn her some credit in front of Angela.

Angela asked earnestly, "Mr. Newton, may we come in and have a conversation? You mentioned that you submitted your resignation, but for positions at the level of the department head and above, hiring or dismissal requires approval from the executive office. So you're technically still employed."

In other words, he still had to listen to her.

Maverick felt conflicted. He felt utterly stifled but had no choice, so he reluctantly stepped aside to let Angela enter his house.
