Love and Devotion No Longer His to Claim (Angela and Dexter) novel Chapter 397

Angela's response was firm. She carried herself with an air of authority that sent chills down people's spines.

Felix shot her a hateful glare before turning and walking away.

When Angela reached home that evening, from a distance, she spotted Felix arguing with Fiona at the entrance. He was pulling at her arm, talking animatedly.

Angela parked her car by the side of the road and walked over. She could faintly hear the conversation between the siblings.

"Fiona, how could you let that brat get in my way? You have no idea how unreasonable she is! I worked so hard to grow the company into what it is today. The moment she arrived, everything fell apart!" Felix complained vehemently.

Fiona retorted, "Have some self-awareness. If it weren't for Dexter explicitly turning a blind eye and letting you off, I would have kicked you out a long time ago. That company belongs to Angela now.

"If you still want to stay there, you better keep your head down. If you keep causing trouble for her, I won't say a word in your defense even if she fires you."

During the following week, Felix behaved himself. At the very least, he no longer openly opposed Angela.

In fact, he acted completely out of character. He was overly respectful and had taken to addressing Angela as "Ms. Graham" at every turn.

His sudden change in attitude influenced the entire management team. Their behavior toward her also shifted dramatically. They treated her with extreme caution and deference. The entire company suddenly began to function exceptionally well.

Every day, Angela would spend half a day at the office. Everything seemed peaceful—almost too peaceful. She couldn't shake off a nagging feeling that this was far too strange.

Indeed, it was very strange.

She was convinced that Felix had something in store for her. He was just biding his time and waiting for her to walk into his trap.

Angela didn't let her guard down. She instructed Joanne to keep a close eye on Felix and report any suspicious behavior.
