Chapter 69
“Mr. Bamford?” Erica’s eyes widened in disbelief.
Angela was also a little confused. Nevertheless, she couldn’t care less about Dexter’s sudden change in attitude.
“300 thousand dollars. Not a penny less.” Angela crossed her arms. A hint of mockery flashed across her gaze as she looked at Erica.
300 thousand dollars wasn’t nearly enough to compensate for the humiliation Erica had caused her in the past, but it was enough to vent her anger.
“Mr. Bamford, I don’t have that much money on hand right now…” Erica gritted her teeth in frustration. Under the pressure from Dexter, she could only suppress her anger and shoot Angela a sharp glare.
“I’ll have my sister bring the money,” Erica added, drawing out each word.
Luckily for her, Elena was just around the corner. She arrived at Villa Heights within 20 minutes.
After hearing about the situation, Elena was slightly taken aback.
“Ms. Graham, you claim that this crystal vase is worth 300 thousand dollars, but do you have any proof?”
Angela had fully expected this question. She calmly opened her laptop and pulled out a document.
The document was a detailed list of all the items in the villa, including the antiques, their origin, and their prices.
“My apologies. I seemed to have made a mistake, Ms. Carrey. The vase is actually worth 380 thousand dollars,” Angela said, raising her chin slightly. A smirk appeared on her face.
Elena’s expression instantly darkened. She turned to look at Dexter instinctively. “Dexter, what…”
She had a sweet and innocent charm about her. Her long black hair flowed down her back, perfectly framing her delicate features. She often wore minimal makeup, letting her natural beauty shine through. Meanwhile, her pastel–colored wardrobe further added an elegant touch to her appearance.
She exuded a gentle, almost fragile demeanor just by standing there. It was as if her mere presence invited protection and care, making others hesitate to raise their voice, even if she had made a mistake.
Angela carefully studied Elena and couldn’t help but sigh inwardly.

Chapter 69
She thought to herself that it would probably take her an entire lifetime to master that delicate, innocent act.
Nevertheless, she had no intention of learning.
She refused to live by the idea of depending on men, constantly trying to win their approval, or dedicating her entire life to them. To her, that was weak and degrading.
Dexter picked up on Elena’s silent plea for help. He hesitated briefly.
To everyone’s surprise, he didn’t give in this time.
Instead, he said calmly, “She made it clear–300 thousand dollars, not a penny less.”
Elena’s face drained of color, and she seemed to have collapsed inwardly.
Before she could respond, Dexter added, “Bamford Co. will be inviting several renowned designers for our industry training event next week. You can bring your company’s designers along. Perhaps they might also want to prepare for it beforehand.”
Elena was taken aback. Nevertheless, the disappointment in her eyes vanished instantly.
Bamford Co. was a large, diversified conglomerate with many well–known subsidiaries. Nevertheless, it was most famous for the luxury brands it carried.
Every year, the company would organize an industry training event and invite top designers from around the world to share their expertise. Only a few talented individuals were selected to attend this prestigious event.
Simply adding participation in the event on one’s résumé could be a game–changer for anyone looking to break into the design industry.
Elena’s company, which had been established with the help of her family, had only recently gained public attention. It was merely a small design firm with little recognition.
Therefore, she knew that participation in this event would definitely raise her profile. This was an incredible opportunity that was far more valuable than 300 thousand dollars.
