Chapter 78
Simon called on a few participants. However, most of the answers he received were vague and filled with empty cliches.
His expression gradually darkened with disappointment, and the atmosphere in the hall grew tense.
Just then, Elena stood up on her own and said confidently, “Mr. Rutherford, in my opinion, design is my life.” Her words were vague, sounding somewhat impressive but lacking clear
substance.
However, Simon only paused momentarily before giving her a faint nod.
Then, he pointed at Angela, signaling for her to share her thoughts.
Everyone’s gaze landed on her, including Dexter, who was sitting front and center in the first row.
Angela was slightly taken aback but quickly composed herself.
She stood up confidently and said, “I believe design is about turning challenging circumstances into something beautiful, better, and meaningful; it’s about finding the beauty in life even in the toughest of times.” Her description was concise yet carried a depth that left room for interpretation.
As she spoke, memories of being ignored by Dexter filled her mind.
If it wasn’t for rediscovering her passion for art and design, she would never have walked out from the shadows cast on her by the Bamfords nor the constraints she felt from her marriage. These thoughts reflected her truest feelings.
“Her interpretation… sounds somewhat meaningful.”
“Oh please! The whole purpose of design is to make things better and more beautiful. She’s just stating the obvious!”
“Her answer isn’t that impressive. She just made it sound poetic.”
Murmurs erupted across the room.
Angela remained standing, unsure of how to react.
Simon, on the other hand, remained silent; he appeared to be deep in thought.
A brief moment later, he finally broke into a smile and gestured for Angela to take her seat.
The murmurs grew louder.
Many participants had shared their thoughts before Angela, but Simon barely reacted. However, with just a few simple words, Angela had managed to impress him.

“This young lady’s answer, though simple, defines the essence of design most accurately,” Simon explained with a warm smile. Then, he instructed everyone to open their handouts and started his first lesson.
Angela couldn’t help but feel a little proud.
As long as Simon remembered her and left a good impression on her, there was a chance she could help DawnStar establish a connection with him, potentially paving the way for
future collaboration.
Angela remained focused throughout the entire two–hour session. She carefully took down notes like a diligent student.
At first, Alan and the rest of the team were also very attentive, but gradually, they started to lose focus. However, noticing Angela’s dedication, they dared not to slack off either.
Therefore, their corner remained most composed and focused in the room, and Simon naturally drifted closer to them during his talk.
