The despair, anger, sadness, and helplessness did not go amiss between the lines. Tears filled Serenity‘s eyes as she flipped through her sister‘s diary while accounts of the past flooded her mind.

Dad‘s side of the family and Mom‘s side of the family were ripping each other apart over the insurance money. All of them were trying to get a bigger cut. No one cared about Serenity and me.
