Love at the Wrong Table (Emmanuel Lowe and Mackenzie) novel Chapter 1266

Chapter 1266 Cunning

In Yeringham, Gautier had always exuded confidence when facing anyone in the past. However, since encountering Emmanuel, he found himself utterly helpless in the presence of this man.

“The shooting occurred on the Verkade family’s property, with the shooter displaying amateurish behavior-firing only a single shot and failing to follow up. Moreover, we decided at the last minute to have dinner here the evening prior. Unless the assailant was tipped off, who else could have known?”

Emmanuel’s three lingering doubts sent shockwaves through those present.

“Could it be that someone hired a hitman and orchestrated the entire incident?”

Ashton smirked at Gautier. Despite her private reservations about Emmanuel, she knew she had to stand by him, given his invaluable assistance.

Unlike the easily flustered Hubert, Gautier remained composed. His expression remained unchanged, and his demeanor steady.

“I can’t say for certain. Officer Summerton, please ensure a thorough investigation,” Emmanuel urged, his tone firm as he applied pressure on Gautier.

Turning to Mackenzie, he revealed, “After two days of investigation, I’ve uncovered that Diamond Titan Military Technologies is poised to procure 75 million in engine energy products, having already placed an initial order worth 75 million with a Yeringham-based company. I’ve contacted this company, and they’re keen on collaborating with Terence Group!”

“A 75 million order?”

The staggering figure elicited shocked reactions from those present, though the involvement of Diamond Titan Military Technologies lent credibility to the transaction.

Yet, amidst the astonishment, William and Gautier exchanged uneasy glances, betraying their hidden concerns and

suspicions.

“Emmanuel, you did a great job!” Mackenzie praised, breaking her silence to acknowledge his achievement with a relieved smile.

“It’s my duty as a member of the Terence Group’s business department,” he replied casually, returning the smile.

To onlookers, the harmonious exchange between the couple might have appeared as an excessive display of affection amidst the presence of numerous media reporters.

Gautier was struck by a sudden realization, feeling like a clown as the 450 million order originally meant for weapons was now reduced to a joke.

“This… this can’t be right. I refuse to believe it.”

Despite Lara’s unwavering stance, in her fixed mindset, Gautier remained a prodigy, a vision of both looks and talent akin to the male lead in an idol drama. Emmanuel, in contrast, seemed merely ordinary despite his capabilities.

She mused, How could he possibly surpass Gautier? It defies all logic! It has to be a hoax!

“Whether it’s true or not, the truth will reveal itself soon enough!” Emmanuel brushed off the argument, turning his attention to Mackenzie. “Given the vast market for our new product, there’s no necessity to involve the Verkade family-”

“Shh!” Mackenzie silenced him swiftly with a finger to his lips.

While he might brush off potential conflicts, she bore the weight of leadership with thousands of employees scrutinizing her every move. She couldn’t afford a misstep in front of the reporters.

After silencing her husband, she redirected her attention to William. “Mr. Verkade, I apologize, but if our two families are to collaborate, further communication may be necessary. I cannot make any promises at the moment. If you still have the intention, you can contact me for a detailed discussion. After all, the other members of the Terence Group do not have the authority to make this decision.”

Her stance was resolute, a subtle caution directed at Lara, whose demeanor she found increasingly overbearing and imprudent.
