Love at the Wrong Table (Emmanuel Lowe and Mackenzie) novel Chapter 408

Chapter 408

Alessandra responded anxiously, “I heard it was self-defense, but now he has

disappeared! It was as if he had vanished into thin air!”

“How could it be?” Roselynn shared the same nervousness, unable to believe

that her typically honest and upright younger brother would commit such an

act.

Could there have been some kind of misunderstanding?

“I don’t have the details either!” Alessandra hurriedly added, “Roselynn, should

we go to the police station and ask around? I’m not quite educated, so we’ll

rely on you and Jaxton to talk to them.”

Before Roselynn could respond, Jaxton immediately interjected, “Mother, it’s

best not to do that! Murder is a serious offense, and if the police haven’t

contacted you, we’ll only make fools of ourselves if we intrude without

permission.”

Jack’s wife, Alina, chimed in swiftly as well, “Exactly! But I heard that

Emmanuel’s wife is a really capable person. Let her save Emmanuel!”

Those words were rather a sarcastic remark than an actual suggestion.

Jack promptly responded, “Oh, Alina, you don’t know anything, so please don’t

speak without thinking! Emmanuel and his wife are divorced, so she probably

won’t care!”

“Is that true?” Alina pretended to be surprised. “Why wasn’t I told about this?”

Roselynn’s murderous intent rose as she observed the couple’s exchange. As

she was a witness to Jack’s growth since childhood, she naturally understood

his character. He was always fond of boasting about his accomplishments,

trying his hardest to outshine his two cousins. So, when he learned that

Emmanuel had married a wealthy and beautiful woman, immediately

casting a large shadow on him, of course, he felt displeased.

Is the reason for their invitation today to gloat over our misfortune?

“Roselynn, why would Emmanuel be so foolish as to divorce Ms. Quillen?”

Jaxton feigned regret but was truly dancing with joy. He had a better

understanding of Mackenzie’s true identity than Jack’s family; she wasn’t just

any typical beautiful and wealthy woman but the eldest daughter of

Yeringham’s most affluent family!

He wouldn’t dare to do anything to Roselynn as long as Mackenzie and

Emmanuel remained married. He had even been exceptionally obedient to

his wife during this period! If it was confirmed today that they were divorced

and Emmanuel was imprisoned for murder, then he could start handling

Roselynn and crush her arrogant demeanor!

He noticed that she hadn’t greeted his parents these past few days and

hadn’t shared the same bedroom with him despite the fact that they had

been married for a while. It was frankly utterly unreasonable of her to forgo

her duties as his wife. Today, he had made up his mind to force her on the

bed and teach her how to be a proper wife when they returned home later!

“I’m not entirely clear about the details of such matters! I only know that my

younger brother did sign the divorce agreement and left without any

belongings!” Roselynn honestly replied, unaware of Jaxton’s thoughts.

Jaxton’s eyes brightened upon hearing this.

“Ah, how can I desqribe Manny? He’s even more foolish than a pig!” Jack

expressed his heartfelt disappointment. “Considering his unfavorable

circumstances, he should have clung to his beautiful and wealthy wife. How

could he get a divorce just like that? Even if he wanted a divorce, he should

have taken a substantial sum of money from her, right? Don’t you all agree?”

Jack looked at Alessandra after directing that question to everyone else in

the family. Meanwhile, the woman’s eyes flickered as she was unsure of how

to respond.

“Jack, are you here to gloat? It’s up to Manny on how he wants his marriage

to go, and it’s none of your business to make such sarcastic remarks!”

Roselynn couldn’t help but retort angrily.

“Rosie, how could you say that?! Manny is truly foolish, so why can’t we

comment on it?”

“Exactly! When did your family become so superior?” Jack and his wife joined

forces and started reprimanding her.
