Love Began with the First Meeting novel Chapter 1022

Hawk nodded slightly as a response to her greeting. He looked gentle and cultivated as usual. Hawk was more experienced as time went by, with an air of wisdom about him. He learned much due to his long-lasting faithfulness to Ava, his previous lover, who had died many years ago. Through the many experiences, failures, heartbreaks, and decisions, that were made throughout his life, he could be likened to a bottle of precious fine wine that had matured with time improving the taste, aroma, and flavor.

"Have you ever regretted giving him up?" Hawk asked while glimpsing at Molly, then returned his eyes to Spark, who was still on the stage. "You're happy when you're with Brian, but you might feel more relaxed if you were with Spark."

Molly didn't answer Hawk right away. Instead, she looked at Spark and pondered on the question. Meanwhile, Spark delivered an enchanting expression in his eyes, resulting in screams from many women in the bar. Molly smiled helplessly and shook her head. Then she answered, "Uncle Hawk, you've been missing somebody with a heavy heart. However, you've never thought about erasing her from your heart, so you don't miss her anymore. Right?" While saying that, she turned her eyes to face Hawk.

Hawk gazed at her for several seconds in thought and then smiled broadly and said, "Yeah. Other people can only see the surface instead of what lies in your heart. They decide if you're happy or not by their own perceptions. Only you, yourself know whether you're happy or not in your heart. After all, you understand yourself better than anybody else."

Pursing her lips, Molly nodded with a smile. She grasped the bottle of wine that she had ordered and poured it into a goblet that the waiter behind the counter just handed to her. "Uncle Hawk, I heard from Bri and Eric that you have just added some wine to your collections. Is that right?"

Struck by the unexpected question, Hawk became speechless for a moment. Then he felt helpless, not knowing whether he should laugh or cry. "I had hoped that you would have learned something good from them. I'm afraid they're quite a bad influence on you. Every time they come to Dragon Island, they want to try some of my wine."

The two of them burst into laughter at the same time. With the excited screams of the female guests in the bar and the laughter that came from Molly and Hawk's shared jokes, it was a wonderful moment. While their friends and relatives were safe, healthy, and happy, they had their own happiness. What more could they want?

"Speak of the devil, look who's coming," Hawk said with a hint of amusement in his voice. At the same time, he raised his chin slightly. With a teasing glimmer of light in his eyes, he said, "I believe this is my cue to leave. I'm not getting involved with the dramas of the younger generation. When Brian loses his temper, nobody except you and Wing dares to communicate with him."

Just as he had finished his sentence, Brian had arrived at their side. After taking a meaningful look at Brian, Hawk put the glass of wine on the counter, turned around and walked away, without saying a word to him.

"What are you doing here?" Molly asked with great curiosity. "Didn't you say that you were going to accompany Mark to deal with administrative affairs today?"

Brian threw a glance at Spark, who was also regarding him while playing the saxophone. Then he looked at Molly and said in an even tone, "Mark said that he wanted to have dinner together with the three of us, so I came to pick you up."

His words had been quite deliberate. By saying it in that way, he managed to kill two birds with one stone. On the one hand, he expressed his generosity and confidence in Molly. While on the other hand, he snuffed out the opportunity for Spark to regain an intimate relationship with Molly.

"But Tony is waiting for us outside," Molly said, frowning slightly. She couldn't understand why Brian had to come here to get her.

Brian's handsome face tensed slightly, but he was able to regain his usual indifference and calmness in an instant. He sat on a stool next to Molly and poured himself a glass of wine then answered calmly, "Tony will have leave to go to Shadow Organization soon."

"Oh?" Molly said slightly in confusion. Brian stared at Molly, confirming what he had said with the expression on his face. As a result, Molly nodded and said slowly, "Oh."

"Bravo! Bravo!" The sound of cheer interrupted Molly's train of thought, and she looked to the stage to see that Spark had just finished playing. He threw the saxophone to a waiter standing to the side and then jumped off the stage. Ignoring all the admiring stares from the women who had gone crazy for him in the bar, he strode directly towards Molly and Brian.

When he arrived at the counter, he glanced at Molly first and then turned to Brian. In a boisterous voice full of arrogance, he asked, "Mr. Brian Long, have you come here to pick little Molly and me up?" While saying that, he even dared to raise his arm with the intent of putting it around Molly's shoulders.

"If you wish for your hand to be disabled again and never hold the bow of your violin, I don't mind fulfilling your wish," Brian said with a faint cynical smile at one corner of his thin lips while he glanced at Spark's hand that was about to drape over Molly's shoulder.

When Molly heard the threat, she glared at Brian. "Bri!" she shouted in Spark's defense.

As soon as she said that, Spark defiantly rested his hand on her shoulder. He smirked at Brian fearlessly since he knew that he had Molly's support and approval. Brian clenched his teeth slightly and had the strong urge to punch the smirk right off his ignorant face. However, as a man who always had good control of himself, he wouldn't do that at the moment, because he knew of the likely consequence. If he used violence against Spark, Molly would be sure to have a very bad impression of him, which would damage their relationship.

Brian methodically put the glass of wine on the counter. He removed Spark's hand from Molly's shoulder in a casual manner and replaced it with his own. He was then standing between the two of them. "It's almost time. Let's go," he said.

Molly stood stubbornly on the spot and checked the time. She wore a faint smile and said, "But it's just a quarter past four. Mark hasn't left National Congress yet."
