The young policeman stood up, and mumbled in a low voice, "It's useless to call him here. It's you who is going to be embarrassed when he arrives." As he said that, he frowned unwittingly. He wondered why he had suddenly changed his mind after he had already refused Brian. He walked out of the room after giving Brian a keen look. He finally admitted to himself that he was intimidated by the horrifying chill from Brian's eyes. The cold aura made him change his decision unconsciously.
The director of the police substation took his time to come to the station. On the way to the interrogation room with the young policeman, he rebuked the young police in a grouchy tone, "Aren't you capable of dealing with this yourself? Since you want my help with such petty issues, how about letting me have your salary as well?"
The policeman felt bitter and was clearly ashamed. He didn't want to get his boss here either, but Brian's burning eyes had scared him so much that he had consented somehow. There was something unnatural about that man; where he presented, a dark aura surrounded him. He tried to reason his boss, "Sir, that man is dressed in an expensive designer suit. He doesn't seem to be an ordinary drug dealer. I agreed to let him talk to you because I felt that we might end up in trouble in case he really is somebody important."
The director rolled his eyes at his subordinate as he opened the door and entered the room in which Brian and Molly were waiting. He said, "Don't you already know that criminals sometimes pretend to be someone important just to—"
The director didn't finish his sentence. He stopped in his tracks as if he had hit a brick wall. He froze in place when he saw the person in front of him. Brian was whispering something to Molly, who was sitting beside him. The director's eyes bulged out and the corners of his mouth began twitching. Seeing the expression on his face, the young policeman stared at him in confusion. He didn't fully understand the situation, but he knew that something was wrong. In a cautious tone, he asked, "Sir... What's wrong?"
The director came back to his senses when he heard the policeman's question. Without taking his eyes off the man who was sitting inside the room, he gritted his teeth and asked, "Who brought them in?"
The policeman was surprised to hear his question. He was dazed for a moment and then answered despite his confusion, "Patrol 3..."
The director wished he could just kill everybody in Patrol 3. They had made a terrible mistake and he might end up paying the prize. He wondered whether those guys were all so blind that they couldn't recognize Brian Long.
However, this was not the time to reprimand them. He had to handle this hot potato at hand as soon as possible. He knew that he would have to try everything in his pocket to relieve Brian's anger by all means. He trotted towards Brian and greeted him with a big smile, "What a pleasant surprise! Mr. Long, what has brought you to our substation today? Our humble station is honored by your presence. What a beautiful night!" He played dumb and pretended to not know anything about the situation.
The young policeman had an impulse to vomit when he saw the fawning smile on the director's face and heard the excessive flattery coming from his mouth. He turned to look at Brian. He wondered who the man was and how high a position he held so as to make the director of a police substation act this way.
Brian listened to the director blabber on and on without interrupting him. When he finished speaking, he had an embarrassed look on his face. Brian opened his thin lips slowly and said, "I was invited here by your men," He paused, creating an indescribable pressure. "They seem to have found that my wife was carrying soft drugs on her."
"What?!" the director exclaimed. His mouth fell open, and the corners of his eyes twitched. After trying his very best, he managed a forced ugly smile on his face, and explained, "Misunderstanding, misunderstanding... Mr. Long, it must be some sort of misunderstanding. I'm sure of it. Why would Mrs. Long ever do such a thing? Impossible! Someone must have framed her."
Molly sighed helplessly after hearing his perplexed reply. She had already realized long back that she had been framed even with Brian by her side. If the person who had framed her had chosen her unintentionally at random to transfer the drug, then this was nothing but an isolated incident and she was just at the wrong place, at the wrong time. But if that person had targeted her with other motives in mind, then she was in danger. She wondered if she would be stabbed with a knife next.
