Love Began with the First Meeting novel Chapter 1088

"Mol is not here. And even if she was, she would not remember you!" Brian's tone was so harsh that it carried no signs of any feeling.

The woman's face became rigid this time, and she said, "Mr. Brian Long, who's Mol?"

Brian lips trembled as he reluctantly squeezed a polite smile. Although it was far from a friendly one, seeing such a smile, drove chills in the woman's heart.

Brian moved his sights away from her, drawing his attention back to the boss of Connection and said, "Mr. Gao, please have a seat."

Although Mr. Gao, an integral part of Connection's management, swaggered around town with a distinctly proprietary air, he looked quite obedient and simple in front of Brian. Pleased by Brian's invitation, he sat down together with his wife, laughing in a forced manner, and said, "Mr. Brian Long, I wonder why you wanted to see me here today?"

Glancing at Mr. Gao, Brian explained in a low and mysterious voice, "Yesterday the police conducted an on-the-spot check on Dark Street." He paused, and his line of sight glided across the woman, "Now, what they found there is none of my business. But, I shouldn't be held responsible if something unwanted and unfavorable appears on the street."

The woman's heart trembled upon hearing Brian's words. Although he wasn't staring at her, she just felt Brian's sharp eyes stabbing at her heart. Her face was unable to carry on a calm facade, even though she still had no idea what Brian was talking about.

After hearing what Brian had said, Mr. Gao's dense eyebrows furrowed, and he looked at Brian with a hint of suspicion, "I am sorry, Mr. Long, but what are you trying to say?" Since Brian never got involved in such activities, the Grand Night Casino didn't need extra monitoring or supervision. As a reason, the illegal products was never sold at the Grand Night Casino. Eventually, over time, it became an unwritten law, which both sides made sure to respect.

'But why he was he brining it up today?' Mr. Gao was curious.

"I don't care how you sell these things," Brian's voice slowed down, "It's universally acknowledged that the illegal products must be sold secretly." Appropriate pauses always posed an intangible pressure on the audience.

"Yeah, Mr. Brian Long, you are certainly right. Just as you've said, we have been very discreet," Mr. Gao confessed immediately. Mr. Gao swallowed secretly. Although he wasn't so sure about what Brian intended to say, he had a gut feeling that whatever it was, it was potentially related to Connection, or him.

'But, when did we mess up with him?' Mr. Gao was confused.

"Tell me then, what happened on the Dark Street yesterday?" Brian threw him a straight question, "Your denial is the least thing that I want to hear. Just tell me whether that stuff comes from your place or not."

Brian had mentioned Dark Street just now, and one more time just a while ago. This time a tiny bead of sweat trickled down his forehead as the sound of Brian's voice loomed over his head. Connection engaged in illegal business. But they were cautious and always kept a low profile. Whoever dealt with their product were not allowed to sell the goods on the open market. Otherwise, the goods would no longer be available for them at Connection. Compared to their competitors, Connection's goods were of the highest quality and also at a fair price. And to acquire such a good supply channel, every buyer naturally followed the rules without dispute.

'Who's so daring to obey it?' Mr. Gao was puzzled.

He took a short glimpse at his girlfriend subconsciously, and saw confusion creep up on her face, too. Finding it hard to believe Brian's words, he asked, "Mr. Long, are you sure?"

"Look, my wife and I were invited to the police station for inquiry," Brian answered coldly.

Mr. Gao was utterly shocked, shaking his head in disbelief. His eyes widened and his mouth gaped open as though he had seen a ghost.
