Love Began with the First Meeting novel Chapter 1260

When he moved her, he noticed a wet towel wrapped around something in her arms. He saw that Maggie held the pile of data firmly in her arms. He guessed that she had wanted to escape through the window, but before she could manage it, she had fainted.

Edgar arched his back and lifted her up from the floor, cradling her in his arms like a father carrying his child to bed. He paused and bean-sized sweat began to trickle down his forehead.

The door before him had already disappeared in a wall of fire. If he tried to walk out through the door, Maggie would be burnt to a crisp by the fire. Although he didn't mind the fire as he was fully protected in the fire suit, his concern was for Maggie's safety.

At that moment, his sharp eyes squinted as he made a chilling decision. He took his fireproof suit off and wrapped her in it.

With the supply of oxygen, she began to wake up little by little. She opened her eyes weakly, and was confronted by Edgar's sweating face. Everything seemed to blur back to the year when she was nine years old. At that time, he was only a cadet wearing a red epaulet. When he had saved her from the bandit, he had also held her against his chest like he did now. Then she had also looked up at the profile of his face as he had carried her to safety.

Ten years had passed, and she never thought that this scene would repeat again. However, she was no longer the little girl she used to be. Strangely, he seemed to be the boy he had always been, calm in the face of danger.

"I never expected..." Maggie said faintly, her voice sounding vague. "the scene... to be repeated..."

Edgar lowered his eyes and glared at Maggie. He figured that walking low would limit the amount of damage. "You should not talk now... Humph, I will talk with you afterwards!"

Maggie did not know why she laughed then. Maybe she just only realized that his angry voice was the sweetest sound in the world now. She opened her eyes feebly. She was aware that she should keep awake and help Edgar, but... she was too tired to even lift her eyelids...

The last thing she remembered was the fire closing in around them and almost swallowing the two of them. She was clinging to the data as he hugged her to his chest. At that moment, she felt a strange desire that they could stay together like this forever.

"Di, di... Di..."

The heart rate monitor made a regular beeping sound. Soft sunshine slid into every inch of the patient room through the large, white window. The room was filled with a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere.

Maggie was dreaming that she was again kidnapped by the bandit, like when she was nine years old, and a brave boy dressed in a cadet's uniform saved her. She was frightened and the boy whispered a story in her ear to comfort her.

A bright smile bloomed at the corner of her mouth. Suddenly, the dream switched. She again saw Edgar pressing down on the body of a sexy woman.

"Oh, no!" Maggie woke up with a scream. She blinked her eyes for a moment and stared up at the white ceiling. Then she recalled what had happened, but once she moved, she felt as if her whole brain was on fire with pain.

"Hmm..." Maggie groaned in pain. Meanwhile, somebody pushed open the door of her room.

"Maggie, are you awake?" Hana set down the things in her hands and trotted toward her daughter. Sitting by the bed, Hana looked Maggie up and down with concerned eyes. When she had made sure that Maggie was safe and sound, she felt relieved. "I was frightened to death."

"Mom, why are you here?" Maggie remembered bits of what had happened. "Are you here alone?" She paused and opened her eyes wide then. "Where is Edgar?"

Hana was immersed in sorrow and ignored what she asked. Maggie felt heartbroken and struggled into a sitting position. "Mom, is Edgar alright? Argh! Stop crying. How on earth is Edgar going?"

"Maggie!"

"Yes, sir!" When Maggie heard someone calling her name, she responded instinctively. Following the sound, she saw Edgar standing at the door, safe and sound. He looked healthier than her at least. "Edgar, are you all right?" She was dissatisfied by Hana's tears and asked, "Mom, he is fine. Why are you crying?"

Hana cleared her throat and complained, "I wanted to stop you from attending that military school before, but you... Now you engage in research with men all day."
