In fact, lots of things in the world were complicated and full of contradictions. If you didn't love a man, you would not care about many things; if you loved him, you would care about everything that concerned him. For example, if you cared about him, you would become sensitive. Such sensitivity would make women, who were born to be controlled by sensibility, seem to make trouble out of nothing, which often seemed like a burden to men. Nevertheless, if you didn't want to be his burden, the only option was to stop loving him. Everybody was reasonable when they analyzed other people's problems, but in case something happened to themselves, few people would remember to be reasonable. That was because they couldn't be objective and there was something and somebody they cared about, so that they would forget to think carefully and critically.
At the same time that she had to hear the rumors about her and Edgar, she also had to witness Edgar and Claire act as a couple during the training sessions. On top of that, Cain liked to continue messing around with her when she was at her most exhausted states.
"Good evening, Instructor Cain!" Maggie greeted Cain, who was looking at her with his calm but evil and unruly gaze and standing with his hands tucked in his pockets. "Goodbye, sir!" she said, pretending that she too was indifferent about seeing him. As soon as she said that, she turned around, intending to take a shortcut back to her dormitory. 'I dare not provoke you. I can only escape from you, ' she thought.
"Maggie Du, the only daughter of William Du, the top leader of S Army. You were once kidnapped by the enemy thirteen years ago, and then was rescued by Sharp Blade Commando. At the time, the Sharp Blade Commando was led by Edgar Gu. Because of that, the girl who previously had no life goal became determined to join the army. In order to get closer to Edgar Gu, you have worked very hard. As a result, finally you had the chance to experience the work and life in S Army and were even selected into the Eagle Special Brigade. During your internship at the Eagle, your research on the change in the firing range and missile curve drew the attention of the higher military leadership, though you didn't have any substantive achievement." Cain spoke slowly. When he saw Maggie stop in her tracks and her back tensing up, a slow and evil smile formed over his lips.
Maggie turned around and glared at Cain. Gritting her teeth, she said, "I didn't expect that you would know every student so well!" She hissed every word through her teeth.
Cain's gaze deepened at that; he did not seeming to care that she had spoken to him rudely. "No. I only know you." Seeing that Maggie's face turned overcast, he walked towards her slowly and continued, "Hmm. I investigated you because I was curious and wondered why you marry such a man as Edgar Gu. Was it out of gratitude or true love?"
Under the pressure of the threatening aura that Cain emitted, Maggie could not help but step backwards. Even so, she could still smell the light odor of lavender from him in the cold air. "It doesn't matter whether I married him because of gratefulness or true love. It's none of your business. How does that have anything to do with you?" she asked.
Hearing that, Cain smiled wider, an evil and attractive smile. He answered, "I investigated your background and your background only." With his eyes fixed on Maggie, he continued, "In your opinion, what do I think of you? You're so smart that you can learn the truth of any situation as long as you're given some tiny clue. Then, do you still think that is none of my business?"
"You... Ouch..." Maggie had walked into something. She looked back and saw that it was a tree in the middle of nowhere. In fact, she hadn't realized that she had walked to the end of campus, far from any building or people. "Listen," she continued, looking back at Cain, locking on his eyes. "No matter what, my affairs don't have anything to do with you. What I think of you doesn't matter. I don't care what you think of me either. Excuse me, I have to go back to the dormitory."
