"Brian, I'm begging you." Molly pleaded, "We're from different worlds. Just let me go and give Mark back to me. I already have a family. I have this whole new life. I'm begging you, please."
Her voice broke as it was punctuated with sobs. Brian's heart stung at the sound of misery in Molly's voice.
He should be angry at her for leaving him. But when they saw each other again, the only thing he felt was love for her that never went away despite the abandonment.
Brian jolted as he felt his heart sting. He scanned the room which was shrouded in darkness. It wasn't even dawn yet. He wasn't a heavy sleeper and he hadn't had a good night's sleep since Molly left him. He constantly thought of that one night when Molly told him over and over again how much she loved him. But he also constantly thought back to when she threw her phone to the ground.
His mind recalled hanging up on Molly the previous night. He didn't know if it was out of hesitation or because of Molly's simple request. Either way, he hated himself for still trying to force a bridge between him and Molly even though they were nothing but strangers now.
He kicked his quilt aside and got out of bed. He walked out of his bedroom and headed for Mark's. He instinctively watched his steps as he neared Mark's bedroom. He carefully opened the door unsurprised to find that Mark had once again kicked his quilt aside. He trod towards the bed to fix his quilt and sit on the bedside.
Mark was the spitting image of her mother. Brian couldn't help but be reminded of Molly. Looking at Mark made him feel like he was with Molly too. It somehow absolved his yearning to be with her. Ever since he was a child, he dreamt of love like the one Richie and Shirley had. He thought he had found it with Becky but he was wrong. But as for Molly... It didn't matter whether this was the end or just the start or not. He had already grown to love her and he had decided long ago that he would be good to her and only her as long as she stayed loyal to him.
He thought he would be free with his love for Molly only to find that he had underestimated how much he loved Molly and now he was stuck and he didn't know how to get out.
During that time, he was determined to take over the XK Intelligence Agency so he could use his power to find her. But after his three years of training at Hell Forest, it seemed that he had lost his way. He was now hesitant to look for her. There was a part of him that wanted to find her but there was also a part of him that was scared to find her because she may not be the same loving Molly as she was before.
He realized then that he wasn't as strong as he made himself out to be. He was scared to find her happy without him. He was afraid to find out that she didn't belong to him anymore.
He creased his forehead upset that his nightmares had come true.
She had a family and a child. And he wasn't part of that family and that child wasn't his.
"Mol, Should I let you go?" Brian spoke in the quiet room. Brian was flummoxed, 'Should I learn to let her go just like Uncle Frank did or do as Uncle Hawk did, silent stand behind the woman he loved, guided her, and helped her when she was in trouble?
Why does this hurt just thinking about it?'
Brian's eyes had moistened. He shut them tightly to prevent the tears from rolling. He gritted his teeth trying to stomach the pain he was feeling. He never thought that Uncle Frank and Uncle Hawk were hurting all this time. But based on what he was feeling, they probably were. Not everyone could bear this pain and more so, not everyone was willing to bear this kind of pain.
After all, darkness was always met with light. When dawn came, it was always a brand new start.
Mark was a good boy with strong self-control and will power. He always woke up at seven in the morning even though he had been hypnotized last night.
