Brian ran his fingers along the necklace as he squinted his eyes. He gradually grasped the necklace, and pulled it off Molly's neck all of a sudden. Molly moaned for the pain as a result. Brian bent towards Molly, his face just inches away from hers. Slowly, he put his lips on hers, and sucked the sweetness on her lips. Then he murmured, "Even if he is the man you love, you have to be with me. It was a mistake that we met. But that is a mistake I don't want to correct. If it is also mistaken to be in love with you, I don't mind being wrong. Do you hear me, Mol?"
Those gloomy ironic words were uttered in a coarse low voice. It sounded so tempting and comforting at night that it brought peace to Molly's nervous nerves. She finally fell into deep sleep.
"Good night, Mol. Sleep tight." Brian touched Molly's hair in a gentle manner, as he stared at her with infinite affection. But there was still a hidden trace of distance in his eyes.
Time never stops no matter how badly you wish it to. Tomorrow will come to welcome you even if it might be the last thing you want. Go Crazy, a tidbits website, greeted the twilight of the next day with a piece of blockbuster news about Spark. As one of the most famous violinists worldwide, the news had attracted attention of many people, boosting the visits to the website dramatically. Soon various newspapers and websites reprinted the news in a frenzy. And fervent discussion followed. Before the sun shone over the city the next day, the news had been spread to every corner of the city.
Mark was sitting at the table, waiting for Brian and his mother. He kept watching around as he was starting to lose his patience. Mark started to hear footsteps first, then he saw Brian walking downstairs. Mark stared at Brian as he walked towards his side of the table and took a seat. Then he asked, "Papa Brian, where is mom?"
Brian slightly raised up his head to cast a glance upward, and said softly, "She is sleeping."
"Sleeping?" Mark widened his eyes in surprise, "She's never woken up so late!"
"She hasn't been sleeping very well recently. She needs to rest." Brian poured milk into Mark's glass and said, "She was tired yesterday."
Mark tilted his head in a deep thought. He was confused at Brian's words. But soon he nodded, as if having understood what he had said. He took several sips of the milk before saying in a hesitant manner, "Then... can mom still drive me to school later?"
Molly and Spark didn't send Mark to school because of his disability. In addition to that, he was also still too young for school back then. But now that Mark can speak, Brian thought it was time for him to go to school like other children. When Brian was young, he hated going to school and despised to learn with other children in the same classroom. Wing jeered at him for his ridiculous opinion. She said that children should live as children. They should experience every natural course during the journey of life. They should go to school, have fun with their peers, and find some friends. Then they can have their moments to memorize when they've grown up. Brian hoped that Mark could have the moments a child had as what Wing talked about.
"I'll drive you to school today. Your mother will go with you tomorrow," said Brian with a cold face.
Mark pouted his mouth and said disapprovingly, "Can't both of you go with me together?"
Brian was buttering bread for Mark. His hands stopped at the boy's words. He looked at Mark and saw him pouting. A delightful glint flashed in his eyes. In a softer tone, he said to the Mark, "Okay, we will both go with you to school."
"Really?" Mark raised up his head to look at Brian all of a sudden. His eyes sparkled with excitement. Brian nodded and handed him the buttered bread. Mark took the bread with a brilliantly smiling face. Then he asked in a jubilant tone, "Can daddy go with us?"
Brian said sullenly, "No, he can't."
He had tried his best to subdue the fury in his tone, as he was fully aware that he shouldn't take offense at a child's innocent words. But his face still darkened.
Mark made a face. He was in such a bright mood that he didn't notice Brian's darkened face since that's what he looked like everyday anyway. The boy just curled his lips a little before making a compromise, "All right. I'll go with you and mom still,"
He was chewing a mouthful of bread before he finished speaking.
