[A Report coming from our correspondent: Since the Leng's Corporations were handed to Aaron, the first son of the Leng family, the total assets of the corporations have spiked prolifically in the past month. As part of the current economy of QY Island, where Leng's Corporations has played an important part, it has become promising lately, previous to the takeover it was registering at an annual increase of 3% and has now grown extensively to three times that in the first month. According to professional economists, at the end of this financial year, Leng's Corporations will truly become a support pillar to the economy of QY Island. The entire island will be at the mercy of the Leng's Corporations, as they could perish or flourish at the situation of where the corporation finds itself. ]
Aldrich was propped up on pillows in his sickbed, watching the news on television. His weathered face was brimming with satisfaction.
James peeled an apple, cutting it into small chunks, then placed them on a plate and handed it to him. With a faint smile playing around his mouth, he said, "Dad, you're bold."
Aldrich took the plated fruit and let out a few hearty laughs. He replied contentedly, "Like father like son. Aren't you rather bold too?" He heaved a small sigh and went on as if complaining, "Well, how can I put it into words. I'm betting on my own life, while you are betting on me as well."
James was smiling faintly. He had always been a none materialistic person holding loosely onto the things of this earth, now he seemed even more detached to those worldly possessions. Staring at Aldrich seriously, he said, "You have certainly foreseen I could do it. It has all been planned out from the day I had that accident until now."
Everyone wanted someone to fully understand what he did. And without any form of explanation, James had understood Aldrich. That was why he was beaming with happiness at this moment.
"That's right!" Aldrich didn't shun from the topic but continued, "Since you had that accident, I've made up my mind. Gale has the ability to lead Leng's Corporations, however, he is not interested at all. If something drastic had to happen, he would not go all out to handle it. Ted is even more capable than Gale, his mind however isn't focused on the cause either. I prefer Aaron being compelled to fight instantly and let it develop into today's healthy situation than to allow him to embellish himself within Leng's Corporations." He looked at James and said, "Of course, you the only one who can understand me and retreat for the sake of advancement, giving him no opportunity to overdraw into our group but being forced to accept it."
Looking into Aldrich's glittering eyes, James snickered involuntarily. He raised an eyebrow and said, "Dad, it's nothing to do with our business. You always want him back. And now, you have dragged him back into our family." Aldrich feeling slightly embarrassed after he realised the statement was correct, his mouth tightened and a little twitch appeared whereas his cheeks blushed crimson. Seeing that, James said with a smile, "Well, it's not a big deal now. After all, the three of us have been wanting your big brother to return someday, with the exclusion of mom of course. We're family!"
"Yeah... Right..." Aldrich heaved a long sigh and added, "I'm old now. When I recall all I did in the past, I don't know how to distinguish right from wrong anymore. Perhaps things that I regarded as right were probably wrong in other people's eyes and vice versa. Only when you're old and begin to review your past, you'll find that the one who got it wrong is you."
James did not respond. He wasn't in the right position to judge these issues of his senior.
"Your mother's immigration procedures are ready now." After his contemplating he came back to reality and said, "No matter what you three brothers want to do, we won't interfere. With Aaron taking charge of the Leng's Corporations, I feel rather reassured." He paused, as a sharp pang of anguish and guilt fell across his eyes. "The day after tomorrow is her birthday anniversary. I want to visit her."
