Love beyond the mask (Whitney) novel Chapter 480

How old is Sandy? About 24, I guess.

Did she have a kid with Shane? Looking at her, she doesn't even seem like she knows Shane!

Whitney rubbed her forehead in confusion. She wasn't sure if she should bring Sandy back.

But could she stand up to Shane?

The answer was a resounding no.

She wasn't close enough with Sandy to pry into her personal life, so she just sent Sandy's assistant a location, asking the assistant to come pick Sandy up.

Her already terrible mood was further disrupted by this mess.

After paying the bill, Whitney walked out, got into her car, and drove off. It was only after covering some distance that she remembered she had been drinking.

The roads were clear, and there were hardly any cars at night, but she still decided to call a ride service.

Whitney tried to pull over and make the call.

She hit the brakes, but for some reason, they didn't respond. She thought maybe she just didn't have enough strength in her foot.

Pushing down hard, the brake turned into the accelerator, and the car's speed shot up to over 90 mph!

"What the heck..." Panic set in, and the alcohol seemed to sober up a bit.

After several attempts, she realized it wasn't a malfunction or that she was weak.

Someone had tampered with her car!

And it was fine just before she drove to the bar!

Looking up, Whitney saw the straight road ahead ending, the car moving too fast as she tried to swerve.

The steering failed!

"No, stop..."

With a loud crash!

She couldn't see clearly as the car broke through the barrier. Whitney desperately turned the steering wheel, and finally, the car was half hanging off the bridge, about to fall into the river below!

She felt weak, her face pale, the airbag obscuring her vision.

Soon, a warm trickle of blood flowed down her head.

She was injured.

She didn't dare look forward, afraid of falling into the river, and quickly reached for her phone on the dashboard with trembling hands.

When she finally got her phone, an unprecedented panic took over her brain. She quickly pressed a button.

She thought it was the emergency call button.

But when she looked, she had dialed Ludwik's number.

In that moment, her eyes blurred with tears, her heart burning with pain and ridicule. At the brink of death, the person she subconsciously sought help from was this man, as if relying on him had become an instinct ingrained in her bones.

Whitney felt pathetic, wanting to hang up, but the call connected.

Since it was connected, Whitney didn't hold back. She quickly said, "Ludwik... I'm in trouble.

I've had a car crash! You..."

"Looking for Ludwik?

He's taking a shower; we're at a hotel...” Florence’s sugary voice came through, laced with innuendo, “At this hour, you know what we're about to do. You've been here before.

How could you interrupt us?”

On the other end, Whitney froze, her blood as if turned to ice, so cold that it felt like it might shatter in the next second.

Her pupils dilated, turning somewhat pale, in disbelief, "Put Ludwik on the phone!”

The response was the ambiguous sound of water running.

Florence spoke again, “He doesn’t want to talk, that’s why his phone is with me, get it?

Sis, you had a car crash, call the police, what’s the use of calling Ludwik? He won’t come to save you!

Today, he didn’t even let you win the game!

He’s in a hurry to take me to Banyan City, to visit his mother. We’ll leave after we sleep.”

He won’t come to save you…

Whitney felt utterly desolate, as if withering away, and hung up the phone!

At her life's critical moment, he was taking Florence to meet Natalie, specifically traveling from Emperor City to Banyan City, so urgently, with such importance!
