Millie's body trembled uncontrollably, as if a bucket of ice water had been dumped over her head by Murray's cold demeanor.
She had not anticipated his heartlessness, not even offering her a sliver of a chance to mend things.
She couldn't accept it!
"Babe, I know I messed up, but our baby is innocent! Look, this is the ultrasound, the baby already has a heartbeat. Can you really bear to let him grow up fatherless?"
Murray's gaze shifted downward, looking at the shaky black and white ultrasound image she held in her trembling hands, which was too blurry to make out anything.
With a mocking smile, he spoke dismissively, "Well, that's why I'm saying you should get an abortion."
"Better that than to be born and immediately lose a father."
Besides, he didn't acknowledge that the child was his.
Having said that, as if tired of listening, Murray turned and walked upstairs.
Millie watched his unfeeling departure, her hands clenched into fists, overwhelmed by anger and frustration.
Was she to be sentenced to death just because of what she had done?
All she did was defend her love, what was so wrong about that?
It was all Roseanne's fault. If she hadn't repeatedly seduced Murray, making him unable to let go, how could Millie have been driven to such extreme actions?
The thought made Millie grind her teeth in hatred, her originally beautiful features twisting into something fierce and terrifying.
No, she couldn't just sit back and accept her fate.
Suddenly, an idea struck her...
On Saturday, Roseanne received a call from the police, listening to the apologetic voice on the other end, she remained calm.
She had anticipated the outcome, insisting on her actions for the sake of a clear conscience.
