Love Burned, She Rose Unscathed novel Chapter 266

After all, Murray himself wasn't exactly thrilled about the news.

And well...

Naylor Sherwood was still in the dark, and Beverley didn't dare bring it up around him.

Deep down, she was convinced Naylor would never stand by her side.

Those Sherwoods, both father and son, had hearts of stone.

At this point, suggesting Millie get an abortion was out of the question.

So, she had no choice but to bite the bullet and accept it.

"Hey, Mrs. White, I heard your daughter-in-law is pregnant? Twins, no less."

"Yeah, I just found out myself. Those kids kept it under wraps, waited until she was three months along to spill the beans, said they wanted to surprise me. Can you believe it? Quite the surprise, haha..."

"Congratulations! My son can't even find a girlfriend, who knows when I'll get to be a grandma. Mrs. Sherwood's son is about the same age as mine, right? Has he found someone?"

Beverley chuckled, "Not yet, busy with his little startup. Why bother when he can just come back and take over the family business comfortably?"

"Mrs. Sherwood, calling it a little startup? It's publicly traded!"

Beverley lifted her eyebrows in pride, but humbly replied, "Oh, it's just a small venture really."

"Ah, my kid doesn't have the drive to start something of his own. Now with the baby on the way, he's content with a cozy family life. He's got no ambition. For me, it's all about hoping those two little babies in my daughter-in-law's belly will make me proud someday."

"Relying on embryos, now? Ha..."

That got a laugh out of everyone.

"You might not know this, but studies from abroad have shown that humans start absorbing knowledge unconsciously even as embryos. There's an old saying, 'Kids can't afford to lose at the starting line!'"
