Love Burned, She Rose Unscathed novel Chapter 279

She was definitely trying to get on Beverley's good side, but Millie had her own ace up her sleeve. Thinking about it made her bold enough to confront Beverley head-on. "So what if I bought two bags? Can't I treat myself after sitting through those mind-numbingly boring classes? To be honest, I didn't absorb a single word. The fact that I've lasted this long is a testament to my patience."

"And it's just a few bags. I haven't even gotten started. This is the supplementary credit card your son gave me, and he hasn't said a word. Why are you the one getting all worked up?"

Beverley, fuming with a blood pressure spike reminiscent of a ticking time bomb, reminisced about the days when Roseanne was by Murray's side. She never flaunted designer labels nor did she frequently indulge in luxury goods.

Roseanne always dressed modestly but with undeniable taste, making even the most challenging outfits work. On the rare occasions she did sport a designer bag, it was either for a special event or at Murray's request. In comparison to Millie, she was leagues ahead.

That was Beverley's unspoken thought, but her frustration made her voice it out loud.

Millie, upon hearing this, let out a cold laugh and retorted, "If you adore her so much, why don't you just bring her back? You and your son are a joke. When she was around, you treated her poorly, and now that she's out of your lives, suddenly you miss her? Know what that's called? Hypocrisy!"

"I'm not Roseanne, and I won't let you push me around. If it comes down to it, we'll both lose, and nobody will be happy!"

"From now on, I'm not following your orders anymore. I'm done with those prenatal classes and fashion courses. If you're so interested, you can go by yourself. Do whatever you want!"

With that, Millie gathered her scattered bags and shopping totes and stormed off.

Beverley, left in the wake of Millie's tirade, felt her blood pressure soar even higher. Turning around, she noticed someone filming her with a smartphone. "What are you filming? Stop it, or believe me, I'll call the cops!"
