Once the rain stopped, Millie wandered the streets, lost and dispirited.
Somehow, she found herself in front of Grandstone Institute's gates.
Watching the students go in and out, laughing and full of life, she remembered she used to be one of them.
Suddenly, she spotted a familiar face in the crowd!
"Yvette—"
She rushed over, grabbing her like she was the last lifeline.
Yvette was startled.
The two girls with her gave Millie a curious look but, out of politeness, didn't pry. "Yvette, we'll wait for you in the café."
"Sure," Yvette said with a smile, then turned to Millie with a complex look on her face. "What... happened to you?"
A month ago, when she visited Millie in the hospital, although a bit pale, Millie was living in comfort.
But now... her dress was soaked, her hair was a mess—she looked more like a ghost than a woman.
"Yvette..." As soon as Millie spoke, tears started falling. "I lost the baby, and he doesn't want me anymore."
Yvette's face didn't show much surprise, as if she had anticipated this outcome.
But she hadn't expected it so soon.
Millie clutched her hand tightly. "I have nowhere to go, can I... can I stay in your dorm?"
Yvette was shocked. "You've already withdrawn from school, it's against the rules. And even if I wanted to help, I can't. Your old bed is being used by another student, so..."
