Roseanne wasn't sure if it was too much or too little.
Was it because Owen Reynolds hadn't texted her back?
After all the dinner rolls were baked, Roseanne picked out 10 of the best ones, tucked them into a Ziploc bag, planning to drop them off at Owen Reynolds' place.
But after knocking for half a minute, the door remained closed.
She pulled out her phone, typing—
【Professor, are you home?】
This time, Owen Reynolds replied quickly:
【Came to the lab】
Roseanne: 【I baked some crab-stuffed dinner rolls, saved you ten. Can you pick them up when you get back tonight?】
Owen Reynolds wanted to reply "No, thank you," but halfway through typing, he thought better of it. It seemed too cold, too dismissive, especially considering the girl had gone to the effort of baking and offering to bring them over...
It seemed rude.
And...
It made him feel oddly guilty.
【Alright.】
Roseanne put away her phone and went home.
After cleaning up the kitchen and barely sitting down without even a sip of water, Leda's call came through—
"Girl! Where are my crab-stuffed rolls, are they ready?!"
"They're ready, baked dozens of them. That should satisfy your craving, you glutton!"
Leda stepped out of her company's elevator, her heels clicking fiercely on the floor, almost wishing she could sprout wings and fly straight to Roseanne's place.
After pulling an all-nighter for a week, her project had finally wrapped up!
She couldn't wait to leave the office a second longer.
"Shut up! You're the one who's always hungry! I'll be there soon~" Leda cooed, her voice dripping with mock annoyance and excitement.
Ending the call, she pocketed her phone, then abruptly stopped—
"York?"
There he was, standing not too far away, hands in his pockets, scowling as if the world owed him millions.
