Love Burned, She Rose Unscathed novel Chapter 569

Sybil couldn't help but feel intimidated by Mamie's presence, her gaze now laced with a hint of fear.

With her robust build, Mamie surely packed a punch. How much would it hurt to be hit by her?

In a brisk move, she nudged Slater forward, chiding, "Hiding behind a girl, really? How brave of you!"

Slater was left speechless.

Hertha stood by, arms crossed, cutting through the tension, "Enough, remember why we came here today. Let's get down to business."

Then, turning to Roseanne, she reached out her hand, "Let's make this quick, hand over the lab keys. Holding onto them won't do you any good."

Roseanne responded with a slight smile, "Sorry, but I really can't give you the keys."

Hertha's brows furrowed in annoyance, "You seem to be misunderstanding the situation. It's not about whether you want to or not, you have to give them up! According to the lab renovation policies, a lab under renovation is not to be used, and students shouldn't have the keys. They must be kept by a supervisor or returned to the administration office."

Roseanne retorted, "You seem well-versed in the rules and regulations."

With a scoff and a slight lift of her chin, Hertha pressed, "Since you're aware it's the regulation, be sensible and hand them over."

Roseanne smirked, "I do intend to hand them over, but why to you? Who are you to me? My supervisor, or an administration officer?"

Hertha was momentarily speechless.

The day before, Edna had summoned her to the office, subtly insisting that she must obtain the keys from Roseanne.

At first, Hertha didn't see the point.

What was so special about an old lab?

She had overlooked the fact that inside this seemingly unremarkable lab was a million-dollar CPRT machine!

The equipment was bulky and required skilled technicians to install or dismantle, making it impossible for Roseanne and her team to remove.

After all, who wouldn't want a piece of that pie?
