Corley: "Let me think about it, and we'll talk when we meet."
"Okay," Roseanne ended the call, quickly pulling on her puffy winter coat and slipping into her sturdy snow boots. In less than three minutes, she was ready to head out the door.
Though the days were chilly, they weren't as biting as they had been. Yet, the sun stubbornly refused to peek out from behind the clouds.
As soon as Roseanne reached the street, she spotted Corley leaning against a sleek, limited edition Maybach at the end of the block. Dressed in a sharp black overcoat, he was casually twirling his car keys.
The moment he saw her, he stood up straight, a smile breaking through his previously aloof expression.
Roseanne walked up to him, grinning.
Once inside the car, Corley handed her a bag. "Breakfast—coffee and a croissant. Eat it while it's warm."
Raising an eyebrow, Roseanne teased, "Mr. Sullivan not only plays chauffeur but also buys me breakfast? I must be dreaming."
He chuckled, "Why think so small? You could dream up something even more extravagant."
She didn't reply, just wrapped her hands around the warm coffee cup, savoring the heat.
"Why aren't you eating?"
"It's… hot."
Clearing his throat, Corley said, "I got a call from the garage. They said the damage to your car wasn't too bad. With a fresh coat of paint and some bodywork, you won't even notice it."
Roseanne nodded.
Twenty minutes later, they arrived at their destination.
After signing the necessary papers and retrieving her car, Roseanne insisted on treating Corley to lunch.
"So, have you decided what you want to eat?"
Corley pondered for a moment, "On a cold day like this, how about some hearty stew?"
Roseanne's eyes lit up.
The restaurant Corley chose was a popular spot. When they arrived, Roseanne noticed a long line of young people waiting outside.
"Should we try somewhere else?" she suggested, eyeing the queue.
Corley confidently led her inside. "Why switch? Follow me."
