Chapter 20 

Enzo didn’t have time to dodge the punch. Adrian sent him flying to the floor. 

This was the latter’s first time losing control so thoroughly. He battered Enzo incessantly–he would’ve killed Enzo if not for Andrew rushing over and stopping him. 

He ignored his bruised knuckles and gave Enzo an icy look. “Do you hate Liss that much? Why do you keep wanting to ruin her? Do you know how many people were watching her birthday celebration tonight? 

“Do you know how many people would’ve seen that useless drone show? What do you expect them to think of her? Will you only stop once you’ve made the whole world turn on her?” 

“No, I-“Enzo struggled to get to his feet. As soon as he opened his mouth, blood spurted out. 

Then, Adrian kicked him in the chest. “No, what? If not for you meaning something to Liss, you would’ve died on the day you stepped foot in Angleria!” 

Adrian’s kick rendered Enzo unable to move. The former stood there, his voice turning menacing as he said, “Today isn’t just Liss‘ birthday–it’s also the day she’s learned that she’s going to be a mother!” 

Enzo’s mind went blank, and he stared at Adrian in disbelief. “W–What did you say?” 

His strength burst forth, and he shot to his feet, swinging a punch at Adrian. “How dare you! How dare you knock her up when she’s still so young?” 

Adrian didn’t move. He watched as the bodyguards he’d brought made Enzo fall onto his back again. “Why wouldn’t I dare? Liss loves me, and I love her. That’s why we’re having a child of our own! 

“If you want to talk about daring to do certain things, tell me how you dared to throw Liss into a freezer and almost beat her to death. The Camden family asked you to help care for her, yet you almost killed her. How dare you?” 

He snorted when he saw Enzo’s face turn ashen. “Liss is pregnant, but her condition isn’t stable because of you. Stop harassing her if you know what’s good for you.” 

Adrian didn’t care what Enzo’s reaction was. All he did was throw away his bloodied coat before returning to the Forrest residence. He cleaned himself up and made sure he didn’t smell of blood before quietly returning to the bedroom. 

His gaze softened when he saw Alyssa curled up in bed, carefully protecting her belly. He gently pulled her into his arms and fell asleep. 

When Alyssa woke up the following morning, she found herself in Adrian’s embrace. He kissed her when he saw that she was awake and said, “Everything’s been taken care of.” Her heart, which had been uneasy throughout the night, finally settled in her chest again. She snuggled against him and made a soft sound of acknowledgment.
