Chapter 11 How Many Papers Have You Passed?
Clarissa was not as fortunate as Damien.
When she was in primary school, her father and mother were both occupied with work. She had to cook for herself and her disappointing brother. Back then, she could not even reach the stove and had to step on a bench.
Clarissa learned how to make ravioli by the time she was in sixth grade. The steps were not foreign to her.
Shortly after, she came out of the kitchen with a bowl of piping hot ravioli in tomato soup. It was placed on the table. Damien’s grandfather was delighted. He felt like he had traveled back to the times when his wife was still alive and ate happily.
Damien looked indifferent.
Clarissa kept sneaking glances at him. She wanted to see if her performance was sufficient for twenty thousand dollars.
After eating, they watched the television for a while. As time passed, Clarissa felt more and more nervous.
Around ten o’clock, Damien’s grandfather returned to his bedroom so he could rest.
“Let’s go to sleep,” Damien said after glancing at Clarissa.
“Okay.”
She followed him to his bedroom.
Damien’s bedroom was very spacious. It was double the size of Clarissa’s rental apartment. There was an en suite, gym equipment, bookshelf, table, and a huge king-sized bed.
“You can use this bathroom. I’ll head to the one in the living room.”
After speaking, Damien took his pajamas from the closet and left. He did not care that Clarissa was standing nervously in the bedroom.
Clarissa was like a puppet being controlled. She replied, “Okay.” Then, she took her pajamas and went into the bathroom.
When she came out, Damien was already leaning against the bed. He was reading a book and took up half of the bed’s space. The other half was obviously hers.
Damien wore silk pajamas of high quality while Clarissa’s was made of pure cotton. It did not match Damien’s pajamas and even looked childish.
