Chapter 120 Fake Bag Howard rushed upstairs and told Damien all about the incident. While he narrated the entire thing, he also implied that he had been very protective of Clarissa and took her side. But Nicole remained relentless and unyielding, so they needed President Lawrence to preside over the chaos.
Damien recalled what he had seen earlier this morning. He had already warned Clarissa to be careful about the bar. Luke had given her.
Still, he felt that Clarissa wouldn’t be able to watch out for the danger in such a short time.
“You’re doubting my wife? How dare you!” Damien roared at Howard. He leaned back in his clair and shot Howard a severe glare. “I know, but… I can’t calm the victim’s anger without a fair investigation.” Howard was bathed in cold sweat.
Damien’s reaction, however, gave Howard the wrong impression. Howard was convinced that Clarissa was the one at fault. Damien had realized something was amiss, and so stopped Howard from doing any further investigation. Just come down.” Clarissa sounded confident and not at all guilty. “Are you sure?” Damien asked with a frown. He would never believe that Clarissa would sink so low and commit a petty theft. On the other hand, she might not get away from Luke’s trap.
“Yes. I’d like to confirm my innocence in front of you.”
“We’re going to the finance department,” Damien said to Howard immediately after he ended the call.
Inwardly, Howard was pleased. He thought, ‘Once President Lawrence proved Clarissa’s crime, his impression of her will go down. It’d be much harder for her to transfer to the audit department after this incident!’ Clarissa would probably have to remain working under Howard’s thumb, and the fact brought him great joy.
This was Damien’s second time entering the finance department’s office. The last time, he came to ask for a shirt from Clarissa.
There, Nicole was staring at Clarissa with a bitter look.
Clarissa had been working in front of the computer and hadn’t gone out at all. During this
