Chapter 192 No, I Won’t

“Damien’s… married?” the voice said.

“Yes, and I’m sorry for not telling you earlier. Damien and Grandpa miss you and want you to come back, Dad. What say you?” Clarissa’s tone was very polite.

There was a short moment of silence. “Is something wrong with Dad?”

‘Is everyone in the Lawrence family so rational?’

Patrick probably knew that Damien didn’t want him to come back, which was why he asked whether something was wrong with Grandpa Lawrence.

Clarissa knew she couldn’t hide the truth anymore, so she said, “Yes, Grandpa’s sick…”

“I’ll be back as soon as possible.” After that, Patrick hung up.

All Clarissa heard next was the dial tone.

“Grandpa, was it okay for me to say that?” she asked Grandpa Lawrence timidly.

The elderly man smiled without saying anything else.

Clarissa didn’t know what she had said to make him react this way

“Thank you, Clary. Also, I want you to think of something to punish Damien for not telling me about the cornea transplant.” Grandpa Lawrence’s smile grew strained.

“Okay.” She nodded. “Grandpa, why aren’t you mad at me at all?”

“About your parentage?”

She nodded.

“Educated people such as myself only care about where a person is heading, not where they’re from. Clary, you’re an upright and kind person, and that’s enough for me. I’ve also r your mother before, and I know she’s a good person with the right values and morals. Also, I heard from Madelynn that your father donated his corneas to Damien. How could I thank you more?” Grandpa Lawrence became teary.

“Grandpa…” Clarissa held his hand.

“Go on, go and punish Damien.” He gave her a little nudge. He wanted to rest.

Clarissa went to the living room to find Damien smoking.

He probably knew very well what Grandpa Lawrence’s condition was like.

“Grandpa wants me to punish you,” she said.

“I bet you were reluctant to slap her,” Clarissa said, her jealousy evident.

“Oh? It didn’t occur to me at all.”

“Will you slap me in the future?” she asked tentatively.

“No, I won’t,” Damien said.

“I can’t trust you now that I’ve witnessed you slapping a woman!” After that, Clarissa pulled the covers over her head and ignored him completely.
