Chapter 196 Pregnant With a Baby

Luke commented on Clarissa’s Instagram post. (Clarissa, now that President Lawrence has spoken, you should give him a baby.)

Luke was nothing more but a traitor. Clarissa simply ignored him

Meanwhile, Luke was lying on the couch. He was disappointed to know that Clarissa didn’t reply to his comment.

Emily had just showered, and approached him after exiting the bathroom. “What are you looking at?” she asked Luke.

“I’m looking at Clarissa’s Instagram. President Lawrence’s urging Clarissa to give birth to his child. Once she does, her position in the Lawrence family will be secured. As her brother, I’ll get a share of benefits too! I’m sure I won’t remain where I am now.” Luke lay on the couch with his feet up in the air. He was simply being delusional, and even showed Emily the post he mentioned.

“Ha! Clarissa’s really pretentious. Not wanting to have President Lawrence’s baby is probably a trick of hers. Anyway, there are plenty of others who want to have his baby.” Emily said. She thought about Damien’s luxurious villa and the life she could never have.

“Have his baby? Who? You? Don’t forget, the baby in your belly is mine. Don’t you try to make him call another man his father!” Luke kicked Emily’s stomach lightly, and then kicked her butt. “Joseph isn’t interested in you, and neither is Damien. I’m the only one who can see you. Your parents are dead, too. Do you have a strong family background? You only have a house and no money. Stop daydreaming!”

Luke’s words stirred Emily. She threw the comb in her hand at Luke, which immediately left some red marks on his face.

Her life was exactly the way he said it. Despite her huge pride, she wasn’t blessed with luck.

Joseph wasn’t interested in her, and in turn, she lost interest in him after his scandal with Nicole. On the other hand, Damien didn’t care for her and never bothered to spare a glance at her.

Having Luke’s baby was a somewhat helpless and desperate move on her part, as she couldn’t find a better man.

“I’m pregnant, but you have nothing. You know what I can do?” Emily warned viciously. “I should abort the baby. You’re just a driver with nothing. The house isn’t even yours! You aren’t even making enough to make ends meet. Won’t the baby suffer with you?”

“How dare you!” Luke jumped up from the couch, furious. “Don’t you dare abort the child!”

“I will! Others will laugh at me for giving birth with neither a name, marriage, or family!” Emily screamed

Luke thought for a long time and finally suggested, “How about getting engaged with me?”

“With you? Bah! Your family’s dirt poor!” Emily became furious as soon as she remembered the thin envelope Theresa had given her as an introductory gift. It contained only one thousand dollars.

She was certain the Johnsons couldn’t give her and Luke a lot of money for their marriage.

Emily’s parents were dead, and she had no one to fight for her. When she thought about it, sorrow engulfed her and she burst into tears,

Luke patted her shoulder, trying to comfort her. “Come on, baby. Don’t cry! I’m here.”

“You’re no good!” Emily snapped.

Theresa fell silent. After a long pause, she came to her senses and asked, “That much?”

“She’s pregnant with my baby. I can’t do anything!”

“What?” Theresa was stunned. She wanted to lower the amount, but since the woman was

pregnant…

“Mom, who’s calling?” Clarissa asked Theresa.

“Your brother.” Theresa was confused and at a loss.

“My brother?” Clarissa’s eyes widened. “Why’s Luke calling you?”

Luke rarely called Theresa. During the rare moments he did, it was always bad news.

“It’s fine. He’s just asking about the money at home. Anyway, once you finish the food, you should hurry and return to the Lawrence family manor.”

Theresa knew Luke called her because he wanted her to pass the message to Clarissa, for he knew Theresa couldn’t afford to fork any money out. However, Theresa refused to trouble Clarissa.
