Chapter 281 Luring His Prey into a Trap Soon, Bethany entered the office.

She noticed Clarissa gripping Damien‘s wrist, which was rather surprising.

“What are you two doing?” she asked.

“I‘m wiping her sweat for her,” Damien replied casually while locking his gaze on Clarissa‘s face.

“Will you keep your promise?” Clarissa finally asked Damien as she narrowed her eyes slightly.

Naturally, she was talking about her plans to fly overseas.

“Since when do I break then?” Damien replied with another question.

Clarissa released Damien‘s wrist after that.

“If you want to be intimate, you can always do that in the comfort of your own house. This is a hospital, you know?” Bethany sank into her chair after she was done speaking. Then she grabbed Clarissa‘s ultrasound report and started scanning the contents.

Meanwhile, Clarissa was finally reassured when she heard Damien‘s promise. She decided to aska random question. “So... Was I sweating the whole time?”

“Yup. Your sweat production was off the charts.” It was unknown whether Damien was mocking Clarissa for being nervous throughout the entire exchange earlier or he was simply concerned about her. He grabbed another tissue paper from Bethany‘s tissue box on her desk and started wiping Clarissa‘s sweat for her again.

In the past, he had never done that.

“Your babies are looking great at the moment. The umbilical cord isn‘t wrapped around their necks, which is good news. The babies are in the optimal positions, so I don‘t think you‘ll have trouble going through a natural vaginal delivery. Try to move around more so that you can get your required exercise.” While Bethany spoke, she jotted down the medical notes on Clarissa‘s medical file. Then, she continued, “Your babies didn‘t give you any trouble at all during your pregnancy. Why did you have the absurd idea of wanting to abort them in the first place?”

Clarissa stole a peek at Damien by using the corner of her eyes instinctively.

Damien returned the gaze without saying anything. On their way back to Atherton Garden, Clarissa asked once again, “Why did you come to the hospital?”

“Leah told me you‘re going for a prenatal check–up, so I decided to come as well. There isn’t any other reason.”

She was no longer as active as she was in the past, especially after she got pregnant. It was most likely due to the events she had gone through as well as the difficulties of her pregnancy.

“Why did you want to get an abortion? Did you really hate them that much?” Damien asked.

His expression sent chills down Clarissa‘s spine.

Take the good old high school times, for example. The teacher knew who the culprit was, but he decided not to reveal the truth. Instead, he intended to wait till the culprit headed over to the staff office and admitted their wrongdoings there. Naturally, this would stress the culprit out.

Clarissa had no idea why the situation would turn out like this.
