Chapter 378 The Photo Clarissa couldn‘t help but be impressed by Joseph‘s comment. As expected of the top accountant in Genovia!
She was about to reply to him when she saw Penelope‘s comment.
Penelope had replied to Joseph‘s comment. Penelope: (That‘s amazing, Mr. Moore!) He only replied to her with a humble expression. Penelope: (Since you‘re so amazing, why don‘t you teach me?) Joseph: (Sure.) Clarissa lost the mood to reply when she saw their conversation. Though she had managed to make Damien look bad, she was still deeply hurt. She couldn‘t shake off her depressed funk.
Plus, she was worried about her son Neil. Though he was still a baby and didn‘t know a thing about what had happened, she was still worried that he would be affected in a way or another.
Three days after she had posted on Instagram, she ran into Chanel again while at the cafeteria for a meal.
“Are you better?” Chanel felt her forehead casually. It inexplicably endeared her to Clarissa.
“Yeah, I‘m fine now.” She sat down opposite Chanel.
“Why did you suddenly burn up?” Chanel asked. “You need to take care of yourself when you‘re on your own here.”
Her words warmed Clarissa’s heart, and Clarissa nodded in reply.
“Excuse me, are you Chanel Kirk?” A fellow student stood next to their table.
“Yes, that‘s me.” Chanel looked surprised.
“Is this your purse?” He held out a purse.
Chanel was overjoyed to get back her purse. She thanked the student profusely. She wanted to thank him with some money, but he turned her down politely and left soon after
“You already got your PhD, didn‘t you? Why did you think of becoming a teacher?” Clarissa couldn‘t understand this.
Perhaps because she found Chanel to be a fellow scholar like her, or maybe it was thanks to Chanel‘s soft yet firm personality. Chanel wasn‘t as arrogant and shallow as Madelynn was, and so Clarissa was rather fond of her.
“Isn‘t it good to be a teacher? I can impart my knowledge to so many people. What about you? Why are you doing your postgraduate studies?”
This made Clarissa think.
“Maybe it‘s because I don‘t want others to make fun of me for my education level. Being a normal graduate is no big deal, and I don‘t want to be left behind. It‘s a way for me to stand up straighter, I guess,” she finally said. “Everyone has their own choice. You‘re making this decision now, but you might think differently a few years down the road. People change, Clarissa. I‘ll only be in Emmeria for a month, so there’s a countdown on our time together. I think there‘s close to zero chance of us running into each other again in the future, so I wish you luck.” Chanel patted her on the shoulder and smiled.
At that moment, Chanel‘s smile suddenly made Clarissa feel like the former was so much nicer than she had initially assumed. “Let‘s exchange numbers,” Clarissa said. “Sure.” Chanel pulled her phone out to save Clarissa‘s number. The moment Clarissa pulled out her phone, though, she saw that she had several voice messages from Luke. It seemed like something major had happened. “Sorry, give me a minute.” Clarissa started to go through the messages.
