Chapter 38 Liked Her Post Clarissa offended her boss and could not do anything about it. She could only make it up by being more diligent and careful so that Howard would not find a reason to lire her.

However, there was one thing that Clarissa did every night, which was to send a WhatsApp message to Damien’s grandfather. Clarissa had been messaging Damien’s grandfather every day since she moved out of the Lawrences’ villa.

She sent him a lot of photos of South City, where she was supposedly on a business trip.

Damien’s grandfather asked her when she would be back, and she replied. ( Grandpa, the accounts here are very complicated. It might take a while.) (Grandpa: I miss you!) Seeing these words that Damien’s grandfather sent her, Clarissa teared up.

Her parents used to say this to her. No one said this to Clarissa in a long time. Although Clarissa had many friends and classmates, friendship could not compare to familial love.

Damien’s grandfather took off his reading glasses and went into the living room with his phone. He asked Damien, “When are you letting Clary come back? She’s been away for over ten days!”

“What did she tell you?” Damien was flipping through the pages of a financial magazine.

“She sent me photos of South City and said that the accounts there are very cumbersome, so she can’t come back for a while. Damien, can’t talk to her manager? I know that I shouldn’t hinder her career, but I’m really counting down the days with my illness…” Grandpa pleaded with Damien.

Clarissa was away for more than ten days, but she did not send a single message to Damien. Their last chat record was from ten days ago. However, Clarissa happily messaged his grandfather.

This contrast made Damien feel left out.

Damien did not ask Clarissa to send messages to his grandfather on WhatsApp when she left. Perhaps Clarissa did this out of her heart, or maybe, his grandfather was her last bargaining chip to return to the Lawrences’ villa. Clarissa knew that Grandpa was Damien’s weakness. As long as she had his grandfather on her side, it would be easy to control Damien. He guessed that Clarissa was anxious because of her dire situation.

Even so, Damien did not want her to come back

Although they were in a marriage agreement, Damien could not tolerate being seen as another man’s substitute. The thought that Clarissa might be thinking of another man every time they were intimate angered Damien.

However, when Damien thought about the umbrella that Clarissa gave him, he became soft hearted again. The way she spoke was very sincere, and shc purposely bought him this umbrella from abroad.
