Clarissa: [We haven’t decided on a place.]

Damien: [Where are you now?]

Clarissa: [Lily and I are at the university.]

Damien: [I’ll pick you two up. Think about it on the way.]

Clarissa: [Okay.]

Damien was family familiar with the university campus. He parked nearby, and Lily, Eric, and Clarissa got into the backseat of the car.

“Hi, Uncle Damien,” Eric greeted smilingly.

“Hi, Eric.”

“This is great! Both Aunt Clary and Uncle Damien are here,” Lily said. “Clarissa, what’s in the bag? Why is it so bulky?”

The three were all in the backseat together. At some point, Lily bumped into Clarissa’s bag and asked her about it.

Clarissa recalled that the food boxes were still in her bag because she hadn’t gone home last night.

“What?” Clarissa feigned ignorance. If she mentioned it, Damien would surely ask why she hadn’t gone home last night. That would have let the cat out of the bag.

“It’s probably books. My bag usually has lots of them,” she answered.

“Oh, is it?” Lily didn’t ask further. She didn’t like to read, so she had no interest in books.

They soon arrived at a restaurant Clarissa had reserved a table at. It was a barbeque place.

Because she was short on time, Clarissa didn’t have many choices. Besides, most of the better restaurants had all their private rooms booked full at this hour. Therefore, she could only choose this barbeque restaurant. It was newly opened, and there was a promotion on. The meals were buy-one-free-one.

This was the first time that Damien had been to such a rustic barbeque restaurant.

However, Damien held back from saying anything since Clarissa was paying.

When she had made the reservation, Clarissa had specified that she wanted a four-person table. Damien naturally went to sit next to her.

The servers brought out the food.

“Clarissa, did you know that Connie’s currently on campus? I just saw her there. She’s taken up with a university student. Isn’t it shameful to try and woo a handsome young thing at her age?” Lily said to Clarissa disdainfully.

“Handsome young thing?” Clarissa hadn’t been paying attention, but she suddenly remembered that she had sent Caleb back to campus.
