Clarissa thought, ‘Is Mrs. Faber feeling unwell because of Caleb joining the army, or is it because she doesn’t want to see me? After all, this all happened because of me.’

At this thought, she lost the appetite to eat as well. After dinner, Neil went back to his room.

Before she could follow him, he had already locked the door.

“Neil, what’s wrong? Aren’t you going to let Mommy in?” she said while knocking on the door.

“No, I’m not! I’m a big boy, and I can’t sleep with you anymore. Mommy, you go sleep with Daddy and work on building your bond,” Neil said.

Clarissa stood there, feeling awkward.

“Let’s go back to the room.” Damien was reading a book absent-mindedly. “What’s there to be shy about when we’ve already done the deed? Make full use of the opportunity that Neil’s created for you.”
