Chapter 190
Sweetheart was live–streaming, a small–time streamer who had arrived earlier at the Greenmeadow gathering piped up, “How come Learner’s not here yet?”
Logan, having made a pretty penny from his streams, flaunted a brand new Omega watch on his wrist for the occasion, a piece rumored to be worth a small fortune.
He casually ran his watch–adorned hand through his hair and said, “Learner’s a student, doesn’t get off till six, so she’ll be a bit late. If you guys are hungry, start on the appetizers. I’ve asked the staff to serve the main course later.”
The other streamer chuckled, “Jungler, you actually believe she’s a student?”
Logan just smiled and didn’t respond. He didn’t quite buy it himself.
A student available every night from nine to eleven for gaming? They always used voice chat for better coordination, and sometimes he could overhear Learner’s mom bringing her a drink and chatting with her. What kind of parent would let their kid game like that without intervening?
But of course, he kept these thoughts to himself.
Sweetheart, picking up on the banter, laughed, “C’mon, she’s just an eighteen–year–old girl, forever young!”
The chat burst into laughter, getting the joke. In the gaming world, didn’t every female streamer–claim to be eternally eighteen? No one wanted to reveal their real age.
Then a more level–headed streamer chimed in, “I’ve watched Learner duo with you on your alt account. You can’t tell much at lower ranks, but in the higher tiers, she clearly knows her stuff.”
Most of the streamers there were guys, and talk of gaming skill piqued their interest. Nods all around when one said, “Yeah, watching you two duo, it felt like you could take on a hundred stars! Her mechanics and game sense are solid. It’s impressive for a girl!”
Hearing this, Logan felt an odd stirring within him.
Teaming up with Learner was always smooth sailing. When he jungled, and she supported, everything just clicked. They had this synergy–he wouldn’t even have to say anything, and she’d know what to do; sometimes she’d anticipate moves he hadn’t even thought of.
Gaming with her made Logan’s streams more lively, and his viewer count skyrocketed during those sessions. Their viewers loved watching them tear through opponents, a flawless duo.
That’s probably why, after a month of gaming together, Logan found he’d developed a soft spot for her, constantly flirting with her in–game.
But it was frustrating: he’d asked for her picture several times, and she never sent it. Texts to her often went unanswered.
Then there was that incident when she let a “friend” play on her account, a guy claiming to be her boyfriend. Logan had been bothered by that.
So, the next time they played, he teamed up with Sweetheart and ignored Learner, who seemed distracted and soon bailed out of the game..
Logan thought she was jealousy.
Chapter 190
From that point, Logan was convinced Learner had no boyfriend. This chick was probably just her playing hard to get. But her refusal to share a photo suggested she wasn’t confident in her looks.
Then Sweetheart started calling him “honey” in her streams, and he was smitten. Despite her tantrums over the smallest things, he put up with it. Beauty, after all, has its privileges.
Pushing aside his minor irritations, Logan focused back on the present.
Sweetheart was prodding, “Jungler, when’s Learner showing up?”
He grabbed his phone and sent a text. The reply was swift, “I’m here.”
After sharing the room number, Logan looked up and announced, “She’ll be here any minute!”
Sweetheart quickly aimed her camera at the door, her voice chipper, “We’re here to talk things out, no fighting, no drama. And folks, no personal attacks on Learner when she walks in, okay? Let’s not bring in–game beef into real life.”
The chat agreed with praises of her magnanimity.
–“Sweetheart’s the best!”
–“Beauty and brains, who needs more?”
–“Sweetheart’s the real deal!”
Smiling, Sweetheart responded, “Hey, I’m a top–tier streamer. Even if I can’t game in the future, you’ll still come to hear me chat, right?”
The chat promised loyalty, and as they did, the room’s door swung open, a polite hotel staff member announcing, “Room 308, right this way, please.”
With those words, all heads turned in unison, and the first thing to stride into the room was a pair of long.
lean legs.
The legs were clad in sleek black jeans, which led up to a strikingly handsome face, chiseled and cool.
