I was feeling conflicted and unsure of how to view Selena. I loved her, but at the same time, I resented her. I wanted to reconcile and return to how things once were, yet something in my mind warned me against it.
It felt like a battle between two halves of myself, and I didn't know what to choose, so I opted for silence. I didn't know how much time passed, but then Zion came in with some food.
As soon as Selena saw him, her gaze shifted between him and me, a mix of confusion in her eyes. But she quickly made her choice. She sat beside me, wrapped her arm around mine with enthusiasm, and smiled as she asked if I was hungry and what I wanted to eat.
Although Zion looked pained and reluctant, he still brought the doctor in to check on her condition.
After we had a simple meal, Zion called me outside to listen to the doctor's findings.
"The patient's condition appears stable for now. As long as you don't provoke her, she should be able to return to normal in time," the doctor explained.
After hearing this, Zion visibly relaxed and turned to me with a smile. "Keeping you here to care for Selena was indeed a good choice. As long as you obediently stay by her side, she'll recover quickly."
I glanced around the VIP room, noting the quiet, empty corridors.
Seeing Zion's relieved expression made me shake my head, filled with apprehension for the future. "Zion, I don't understand why you're doing this. Selena is already unwell, and you are the only man by her side."
I shook my head and suggested, "Why not take this opportunity to move Selena's money away? You'll have plenty of money that allows you to live freely and comfortably. I've seen many people do just that."
