Love That Wasn't Meant to Last novel Chapter 31

Selena's back was no longer as smooth and delicate as I remembered—it was now marred by various scars, both old and new.

Upon seeing the deep, crusted scars, I felt my heart sink with surprise and heaviness. I walked over and reached out to touch her back. She gasped, turned her head, and after seeing me, her expression shifted to a smile.

"Hud, why didn't you say anything before you touched me? It tickles!"

I didn't respond and simply looked into her eyes, realizing she was unaware of the scars on her back.

Noticing I was still dressed, she stood on her tiptoes and began to undo my buttons. I frowned, but remembering my promise to take a couple's bath, I reluctantly allowed her to undress me.

Her hands lingered on my body, igniting a heat within me. If I didn't stop this soon, I feared the situation would spiral out of control.

I had a girlfriend; even if the only people who knew about this were Selena and me, I couldn't betray Sylvia. I grabbed Selena's hands, looking firmly into her eyes.

"Selena, we're just here to shower. If you have any other ideas, I'll walk out right now."

Disappointment flickered in her eyes as she let out an annoyed huff and pulled away from my hand away forcefully. She stepped into the tub, turned on the water, and began washing with soap without glancing at me again.
