Love That Wasn't Meant to Last novel Chapter 46

"What's wrong? Is there an issue?" Andy asked with concern, noticing my puzzled expression.

I shook my head, choosing not to respond, and simply gestured for her to leave. Zion turned to me as I stepped out, his eyes filled with suspicion.

"What were you two discussing behind my back? Why did it take so long? What were you really talking about?" he questioned.

After hearing the words "behind my back", I couldn't help but shake my head in exasperation. This guy was impossible; he clearly had a one-track mind.

I glanced at the file I was holding. It was quite substantial, but I still didn't understand why Andy felt so confident in handing it over to me. Didn't she worry about any repercussions?

"Could I get a few different colored pens? Selena and I will need them later," I said.

Ultimately, this document belonged to Selena's company, and even though I wanted to help, I couldn't shoulder this burden alone. I needed to collaborate with her on this.

Noticing Zion's expression, I understood his concerns. "Don't worry, I'll take the file back to Selena and we'll review it together. I won't leak any of your company's secrets. There's no need to be stingy with a few pens."

He scoffed, looking at me with a warning glare. "Hudson, I'm warning you—stay close to Selena during her treatment. Don't even think about running away. I've told you before that I'll let you go once Selena recovers. I keep my promises, so I hope you do too."

I didn't know why he insisted on saying such nonsensical things—maybe it was jealousy, or perhaps he just enjoyed trying to intimidate me. Either way, I was used to it by now.
