Love That Wasn't Meant to Last novel Chapter 69

I took a deep breath and looked at the hallway. Selena didn't come out to look for me. Perhaps she was occupied with work.

But, Selena, soon, you wouldn't have to work hard like this.

"I'll discuss this with Selena. There's nothing more to talk about. This is how it's going to be, whether you agree or not."

Without waiting for Zion's reply, I hung up.

When I returned to the room, Selena wasn't looking at her laptop. She was watching a TV show.

Even though the program on the screen was a comedy, Selena wasn't smiling. There was not even the slightest desire to laugh. She fixed her gaze on the screen, as if lost in thought.

When I sat beside her, she turned to look at me and said quietly, "Hudson, you're here." There was no joy in her voice.

Seeing her like this, I wasn't sure if my suspicions were correct, so I asked tentatively, "Why do you look so down? Was it something Andy said that upset you?"

Selena shook her head and sighed.

She glanced at the TV, then picked up the remote and turned it off. Turning to face me, she sighed again, looking lost.

"I... I don't know. I don't feel like there's anything to be happy about. I just suddenly feel so lost."

"I'm here in the hospital every day, and I don't feel like going anywhere else. I feel like I have nothing to do, and that life is boring. Yet it also feels like there are so many things waiting for me to do. I want to do them, but when I try to get up, I don't feel like doing it anymore..."
