I smiled at Noah. “I’m okay. I feel great!”
In this world, there’s nothing better than being alive.
I was so happy to open my eyes again. And my body genuinely felt great.
After all the years we had spent together, Noah knew me well. He quickly understood why I was laughing.
He also knew that I was being genuinely happy and truly feeling better. This realization put him at ease, and he smiled back at me.
Once I had calmed down, he asked, “Emi, do you want some chicken soup?”
As I hadn’t eaten all day, I was actually starving after the initial exhilaration of surviving had ceased. I eagerly nodded.
Noah chuckled and walked over to the table, scooping chicken soup from a thermal food container.
After facing life and death, I came to a realization. The most important thing in life was being alive, and the second was eating well.
After finishing a bowl of warm chicken soup, I felt like I had come back to life. I felt so cozy that my eyelids grew heavy as I sighed in satisfaction.
Seeing my expression, Noah smiled even brighter.
After finishing my meal, I suddenly remembered something. “Noah, how did you find me?” I asked.
Before losing consciousness, I heard someone calling my name, and that voice was very familiar. It sounded like Noah’s.
At the time, I thought I was hallucinating. But now that I woke up and saw him, I realized it wasn’t a hallucination. It was really him.
But he was just a college kid. If he couldn’t reach me by phone and suspected I had gone missing, he would have called the police. How did he end up going into the mountains to search for me in the middle of the night?
And he even actually found me.
Noah took the empty bowl from me and replied, “I was searching with the cops for you.”
“When I couldn’t reach you on the phone, I had a really bad feeling, so I called the cops,” Noah explained. “They had also just received a silent phone report from the mountain area.
“At the same time, a bunch of helicopters were flying in, and Irvin was there too. It looked like something had happened, so we headed over and were lucky enough to find you.”
His tone was so calm and casual that Lance Crawford, the police chief who had come to take my statement after hearing I had woken up, rubbed his arms in confusion.
He wondered if the chaotic rescue mission he had just experienced was a fake one.
Because when Noah couldn’t find me and found out that I might have been kidnapped, he went completely insane. He looked as if he was ready to burn everything down.
He gave a command and mobilized the elite J–team mercenaries, helicopters, drones, infrared scanners, and all

sorts of advanced technology to comb through the mountain until they found me. Over ten thousand people had searched without a break.
