ryn met my gaze upon hearing what Julianne said. When he saw that she was speaking the truth, his grip on the “pen tightened.

Julianne had always been good at noticing Irvin’s subtle reactions. She felt a glimmer of hope when she saw the way he was acting. She thought Irvin had believed her again this time.

“For my own good?” Irvin scoffed. “You told me you had visited Emi right after she had fallen off the cliff. You claimed she had knocked you out when you tried to apologize to her and comfort her. She could barely move then, so tell me, how could she have knocked you unconscious?”

Julianne was stunned by his words. She immediately paled.

She had defamed me in front of Irvin so many times that she had forgotten what she had said. Now that she was suddenly exposed like this, she didn’t know how to react.

After a long silence, she finally stammered out, “B–Back then, I thought Millie had d–drugged me. S–So I–That’s why I s–slandered her…”

“Is that so? Then what about now? All the misunderstandings have been cleared up, so why are you still slandering her?” Irvin questioned with a sneer.

He had seen the way I had pleaded with him to let me go. So, he could never believe I was the mastermind behind Julianne’s recent kidnapping.

If I had such acting skills and genuinely desired to harm her, I would have never allowed myself to get hurt in the process. This was why Irvin felt Julianne thought he was a fool, seeing as she had the guts to tell such bald–faced
