Not long after Noah’s uncle left, my bodyguard arrived. Regardless of whether he had overheard of guessed anything, I still had my bodyguard remove the faucet as planned.
Just as we packed up to leave, I heard a voice.
“Emi.”
I turned, and it was actually Irvin.
I couldn’t help but think of how many unexpected things had happened tonight. I had only come to bid for the Quills‘ heirloom pendants, yet I ended up running into so many people.
Seeing the faucet in my bodyguard’s hand, Irvin’s eyes darkened. Realizing something, I raised an eyebrow. “You must have met Julianne’s cousin, Lumi, right?”
Irvin didn’t respond.
“You cared so much for Julianne and went to Felys with her countless times. There’s no way you wouldn’t know Lumi, right?” I continued. “Do you think this Lumi is the same person you met before?”
After a brief silence, Irvin said, “Lianne is already dead.”
I chuckled, ignoring his words and turning to leave.
But Irvin grabbed my arm, saying he had some company matters to discuss with me.
Since I had already secured the emerald pendants and had nothing else to do, I thought that I might as well talk about it with him. So that he wouldn’t have an excuse to go to my lab.
I followed him to a lounge.
Someone was already waiting inside, the same unfamiliar man that Irvin had brought to the lab last time. When he saw me, he immediately stood up with a smile to greet me.
Then, they began discussing the company matters with me.
Maybe it was because I was completely uninterested in the business, or maybe it was because I had only had one day of rest after working nonstop in the lab for a month, but I ended up falling asleep.
If Noah hadn’t come looking for me, searching every lounge after I didn’t answer his calls, I had no idea how long I would have slept.
I was woken up by the commotion.
When I opened my eyes, Noah was gripping Irvin’s collar, demanding to know what Irvin had done to me that had made me fall asleep like that.
He thought that, given how guarded I was against Irvin, I would never doze off while alor
ith him.
When Irvin saw that I was awake, he pushed Noah’s hands off his collar. He strode toward me and reached out a hand in concern to help me up.
I didn’t take his hand, and I remained silent.

Something about this felt off.
sull
I hadn’t eaten or drunk anything since I came in, so I probably wasn’t drugged.
“Emi…” Irvin said.
I ignored his concern and left with Noah.

Perhaps because Irvin knew that Noah and I were like siblings, he no longer tried to stop us from being together.
After we came out, Noah looked at me apologetically. Emi, my uncle insists that the woman is Lumi, so there’s no way to send her to prison at the moment. But don’t worry, I’ll definitely find the evidence that she’s actually Julianne.”
