Love You Like I Used To Forget It (Millie Bridge) novel Chapter 261

Quinton glowered at Noah. He had the urge to comment on how I already had another guy hanging around me when Irvin’s death still hadn’t been confirmed. However, he held his tongue when he saw Mr. Ashford sipping on whiskey not too far away.

Noah had enlisted Mr. Ashford’s help. That was how we found so much manpower to help dredge the open sea. Mr. Ashford was also the reason Kade’s major criminal organization had backed off.

Irvin might be dead right now. But even if he was here, Quinton knew their combined efforts still wouldn’t be a match for Mr. Ashford. Hence, he had no choice but to tolerate Noah no matter how strong his dislike was.

Julianne was like Mr. Ashford’s shadow. And, since he was here, she naturally was too. Her fists clenched with frustration as she surveyed the aftermath of her carefully planned incident.

She didn’t understand how I could be so lucky. Once again, I had made it out of the incident unscathed. Meanwhile, something had happened to Irvin instead.

How was it that I managed to escape death again and again?

Irvin had spoiled and trusted Julianne so much ever since they were children. He had even misunderstood and harmed me for her sake without hesitation.

Despite this, she wasn’t concerned for him. Instead, she wanted to curse him for being a fool.

She didn’t understand how he could be so stupid to give up his life just to save me. I was his exwife who didn’t even want him.

Mr. Ashford suddenly looked up from his drink and asked her, Is something wrong?

Julianne immediately relaxed her fists and moved closer to him. This scene is too gory. I’m just a little horrified, she replied.

Mr. Ashford petted her head and said, Then let’s go back.

With that, he stood up. Julianne happily linked her arm with his and walked away with him.

Quinton had grown up with Julianne too. Her face didn’t look the same now, and she had insisted she was Lumi Calder. However, he felt something wasn’t quite right.

He knew how much Irvin had cared for Julianne. It could even be said that Irvin had ended up like this because of her. Yet, she was behaving this way.

Right now, Quinton felt even more strongly that everything Irvin had done wasn’t worth it. He even thought all women were heartless and ungrateful creatures.

The search and rescue team had scoured the ocean for over a week but still hadn’t found Irvin. Just when I thought a lack of bad news was good news, the forensics team found Irvin’s DNA in a severed limb that was potentially his.

In other words, Irvin was dead. His body had been blown into unrecoverable fragments that were probably already being eaten by fish.

This definitive news felt like a knife to my heart. The pain was so sharp that I couldn’t breathe. I swayed on my feet, about to collapse.

Noah immediately stepped forward and held me up when he saw this. However, I didn’t register his actions. I also didn’t realize I was crying fiercely. Soon after, I lost consciousness.

When I woke up, I was back at the hotel.
