Love You Like I Used To Forget It (Millie Bridge) novel Chapter 392

Chapter 392

The silence in the car grew so thick that it was almost frightening

Just as I was about to apologize to Gideon, he apologetically said, m sorry, Emi. I was too excited and happy that I acted on impulse.

Before I could say anything, he seemed to read my mind and continued, You don’t need to feel burdened. I know better than anyone everything that has happened between you and Irvin.

I know you still haven’t let go of him yet. I’ll wait for the day when that happens, and for when you can truly accept me.Gideon claimed that liking me was his own choice, and he never expected it to be reciprocated. Despite this, no one truly wanted their love to remain unrequited.

I stared at him, unsure of what to say. So, in the end, I got out of the car without saying anything and left.

I didn’t know if the day would come when I could fully let go of Irvin, nor could I force myself to stop caring about him. Even so, I needed to force myself to accept Gideon.

We were about to become husband and wife. If I couldn’t even accept a simple kiss from him and instinctively avoided it, how could we be a real married couple? How could we even have a child?

I already felt guilty enough that I couldn’t return his feelings. But if I couldn’t even give him a normal married life, then marrying him would just be ruining him.

Gideon messaged me in the late afternoon. He said his parents wanted him to bring me home for dinner that night.

Then, he asked me if I wanted to. If I did, we would go to his family home together. If I didn’t, he would decline their invitation.

After mulling it over, I agreed.

Marriage wasn’t just between two people, it was also between two families. While I didn’t need to care about my parentsopinions, Gideon was an only child, and his family cared deeply about his marriage.

Prior to getting our marriage certificate, even if his parents hadn’t invited me, I should’ve visited them myselfif only to explain to them we had plans to get married.

Hearing that I had agreed to go, Gideon was clearly overjoyed.

What time will you be done?he asked. I’ll come pick you up.

I gave Gideon a rough estimate and then hung up.

I was about to return to the lab when it hit me. This was my first time visiting his family home, and it was to meet my future parentsinlaw. So, it would be rude to show up emptyhanded. Hence, I called Emma and asked her to purchase a few appropriate upscale gifts.

Later that afternoon, Gideon came to pick me up. When he saw that I had prepared so many gifts, he smiled as he loaded them into the trunk.

Thank you, Emi,he said.

Gideon’s family was wealthy, so he didn’t care about the quantity of cost of the gifts. To him, what mattered was that I cared enough to prepare them. He had felt as though he had been dreaming the whole day, so my thoughtfulness made everything feel more real.

No one knew what an emotional rollercoaster today had been for Gideon because it had unfolded like a dream. He was also so afraid that his earlier impulsiveness would cause him to lose me the one he had been longing for from afar for a decadejust as he was finally getting the chance to be with me.
