Chapter 447
From a young age, every man Grace had met had been the same. They would do anything for personal interest and had never refused a woman who offered herself to them. Even if there wasn’t one knocking on their door, they would still find ways to cheat.
Irvin, on the other hand, was unlike any of the men Grace had ever met.
When he and I divorced, Irvin had unhesitatingly handed me the empire he had worked hard to build. And when he had been seriously injured, not even the best hypnotist could hypnotize him into falling in love with another woman.
Other men would cheat on their wives repeatedly after their first offence. Yet, Irvin’s hair had turned white overnight. He really made it hard for a woman not to fall for him or yearn to be loved as purely as he did
Despite everything Irvin had done to me, Grace could tell his intense hatred for me stemmed from how deeply he loved me.
It was because he loved me too much that he could hate me to the point of being cruel. It was also why Irvin wanted to hurt and torment me when he thought I had tricked him into loving me.
Just then, as though sensing her gaze, Irvin glanced in Grace’s direction. And when their eyes met, his lips curled into a tender smile.
That smile made Grace’s heart melt against her will. She couldn’t help but wonder whether she could have all of Irvin’s love.
People desired most what they didn’t have, and Grace was no exception.
Having grown up in a treacherous environment, she had never once experienced genuine affection. Grace might be ruthless, but deep down, she couldn’t help wishing for true love. She longed to be cherished deeply and to be loved completely and wholeheartedly.
Although she didn’t want to, she had to admit she had been jealous of me from the start. That was why she had hated me on impulse and wanted to take me down. It was also why she absolutely despised me.
Grace had been insanely jealous of me because I was clearly inferior to her. Yet, I had someone who loved me completely.
She was Grace Keller. She lived at the top of the social pyramid. Yet she couldn’t have that kind of love. So why did I? And because of her uncontrollable envy, she had made so many mistakes she shouldn’t have.
At this thought, her involuntarily melting heart suddenly turned cold.
Irvin loved me so much that his entire head of hair had turned white overnight. As such, he couldn’t possibly fall in love with Grace. His sudden and drastic change in behavior had to be a setup one that was meant to trap her and make her life a living
hell!
Grace’s heart chilled even more as she considered this. Then, when she spotted William, her heart hardened in wanted was unrivaled power, and falling for men would only jeopardize this.
What she
With this in mind, she picked up a glass of juice and walked toward William. While he had said their last collaboration would be the final one, she wouldn’t allow it to be so.
William was in the midst of a discussion with someone else. When he noticed Grace walking toward him, his eyebrows raised slightly, and he smiled devilishly.
Abruptly and against her will, Grace’s heart skipped a beat at the sight. However, instead of making her flustered, her reaction
merely reassured her.
The fact that she had also reacted this way toward William only meant she was simply attracted to good–looking men. It also meant she just desired a wholehearted love too badly, not that she had actually fallen in love with Irvin.
Grace waited until William had finished his discussion before approaching him.
