Love You Like I Used To Forget It (Millie Bridge) novel Chapter 457

Just as I was about to finish dinner with William, Cordella called. She said she had finished work early and asked if I had eaten yet. If not, what would I like to have? She offered to bring it back for me on her way home.

Originally, she was supposed to leave Lestoria and return to the city where she worked. But a lastminute assignment from her superiors had sent her to help restore a cultural relic at the muset. Not only did she have to stay here, but she’d been so busy, working late every night to finish her tasks.

So, getting off early today was a rare occurrence.

It warmed my heart that she was always thinking of me. I couldn’t help but smile.

I’m not home. I’m out eating. Have you had dinner yet? If not, I can get you something. I’m at your favorite restaurant, Ivory

Fork,I said.

Cordelia didn’t know I was out and was even more surprised that I was at her favorite place. She said excitedly, Nope, please get something for me!

Then she listed several dishes she wanted.

I jotted them down and handed the order to a waitress.

Cordelia had been so busy lately that she hadn’t had time to eat properly. For someone who loved food as much as she did, she could barely wait to enjoy a good meal tonight.

Coincidentally, the weather was lovely, so she decided to enjoy the views of the flowering magnolias in the park while waiting

for me.

That was when she spotted William dropping me off.

As a selfproclaimed relationships expert, she was very sharp in catching these things. She immediately picked up on something after exchanging a simple greeting with him.

The moment he left, she grabbed my arm. Darling, what’s going on?she asked. His gaze is so different from before! Wasn’t he the one who wanted you to try things out with Noah?

I broke into a cold sweat. I couldn’t believe how sharp her eyes were, noticing that even in the dim lighting.

Then I told her that William liked me. He wanted to marry me, and was planning to enter into a contractual marriage with him.

She was shocked at first. But after a moment, it all seemed to click

No wonder! I’ve always thought the way he looked at you and treated you was a little strange. It didn’t feel like how someone would treat their acquaintance. Everything makes sense now,she exclaimed.

She had sensed something was off before, but since William had never shown any trace of emotion, she just thought that it was

`a little strange.

She hadn’t considered the possibility that he might have feelings for me.

Now that she thought about it, everything that had felt strange suddenly made perfect sense.

At the thought of William’s stunning looks, modellike figure, and his power and status, she said, Why fake the marriage? Darling, listen to me. You need to lock him down! If you let a good man like him go, you’ll never find someone like him again, no matter how hard you search.

Her dramatic tone made me chuckle. I know. I’ll never find someone like him again. But he’s just too good for me. That’s why I can’t be with him. Look at what he has, and look at me. I’m divorced and also pregnant. How could I be with him?

The divorce wasn’t the issue, as William had said himself that he had a past too. But I was pregnant with another man’s babies. That was just too inappropriate.
