Love You Like I Used To Forget It (Millie Bridge) novel Chapter 543

Grace was supposed to be smart and a skilled manipulator. Yet, she had actually been duped by a con artist. This truly was the greatest humiliation of her life.

She didn't even need to say a word. When Timothy saw how abruptly her expression had turned ugly, he knew she had been conned. Her so-called close friend wasn't the young Ms. Charter at all.

He snorted disdainfully at her. "You really are useless. Someone as worthless as you shouldn't be jealous that Emilia Quill keeps getting good men.

"Other than being born into a better family, tell me—what do you actually have over her? Be it looks, intelligence, or anything else, you aren't her competition.

"And you know what they say, birds of a feather flock together. With a heart as nasty as yours, you're lucky to have ended up with someone like me.

"Stop dreaming about being with a good man. Before you go around judging others, take a look at yourself in the mirror first. What are you really worth?"

Of course, Timothy had been able to get away with being so evil because he was incredibly intelligent. And people like him could easily read others' minds just from the change in their gaze, even more so when the other person's heart was just as dark.

His direct insults hit Grace where it hurt most. The scowl on her face twisted even more and intensified her resentment. She hated how unfair god was.

Why? Why was it that she deserved to be matched with someone like Timothy? How was she inferior to me in every way?

Not only did she have a better family background, but she even had better looks and a more prestigious education. Grace believed she was better than me, no matter how we were compared.

As for her so-called nasty heart, did Timothy really think she chose to be born this way? Who would choose to exhaust themselves with scheming against others if they could live a good life without doing so?

Grace's mother had passed away early. So, if she hadn't learned to be more conniving, she and her younger brother wouldn't have lived to adulthood under the rule of her stepmother. Even then, her younger brother had still ended up dead at the hands of that woman.
