Emilia, how many times must I tell you? There is nothing between Lianne and meespecially not what you’re thinking! Stop using divorce as a threat. Even if you do, I’m not sending her abroad!

I thought it had finally dawned on him that I genuinely wanted this divorce. Who would have known that he would twist my words? Here he was, accusing me of using divorce as leverage again.

This inability to communicate with him in a human language was driving me to the brink of despair.

Once again, I looked at him with a grave expression and said, Irvin Sawyer, I’m not being dramatic, nor am I using divorce to threaten you. And I certainly don’t intend for you to send Julianne abroad.

I sincerely, wholeheartedly, truly hope you two can be together! If I could cut my heart open and show it to you, you would be able to see just how genuine my blessings are for you two!

Irvin clenched his hands into tight fists at his sides. The veins on the backs of his hands bulged

I once told him I wanted to cut my heart open to show him how much I loved him. Now, I was saying I wanted to cut my heart open to show him my sincere wishes for his happinesswith another woman.

It seemed to infuriate him.

To him, it was clear that I had wronged Julianne. Since her return, I had been causing endless trouble, each time worse than the last. He didn’t even force me to apologize.

I tried to threaten him with divorce, driving Julianne to despair. I escalated the situation to their parents, making them believe I truly wanted a divorce. Even then, he had come over to give me an out after venting his anger and drinking it away.

But I didn’t stop there!

He wondered if my confidence came from thinking he would never agree to the divorce, no matter what.

At this thought, his gaze darkened. Fine. Since you’re so set on divorce, we’ll follow the prenuptial agreement we previously signed, shall we?

Prenuptial agreement?I frowned. I didn’t know what prenuptial agreement he was talking about, but from his tone, it didn’t seem favorable.

Yes, the prenuptial agreement. When we got married, we agreed that whoever initiates a divorce leaves with nothing. Since you’re initiating one now, you’re leaving with nothing!

When I saw the prenuptial agreement we had both signed, flaunting its notarized legal seal, I was speechless.

I could do without a scummy man or take less money to expedite the divorce. But I wasn’t about to leave with nothing!

Especially since I had transferred all my premarital assets to Irvin, including the company I inherited from my aunteverything I owned had been converted to marital property.

After all my fucking sacrifices, was he expecting me to leave with nothing when it was he who cheated? That was beyond unacceptable.

No, leaving with nothing was absolutely out of the question

I pointed to a clause in the middle of the agreement. Doesn’t it also say that if both parties agree to the divorce, assets will be split equally?

It does, but I don’t agree.

Instinctively, I challenged, Why not?

Irvin’s expression was grim. Why should I?

Why shouldn’t you? You and Julianne are deeply in love. Don’t you want an honest, open relationship with her? Or are you planning to make her a mistress for life?

Despite months of investigation, I had been unsuccessful in finding substantial evidence of his infidelity. Had that not been the case, I would have already filed for a divorce lawsuit.

Emilia Quill, I’ve told you countless times! There is nothing between Julianne and me! I can’t and won’t be with her. She is not a mistress! Why must you keep slandering her?

Faced with his anger, I couldn’t help but distinctively feel his cowardice. Enough. You two were practically about to kiss in that room, yet you dare claim there’s nothing between you!

All of a sudden, a thought struck me. The truth is you don’t want a divorce because you don’t want to split the assets. Am I right?

This realization elicited a cold chuckle from my throat. Irvin Sawyer, don’t let greed consume you. You can’t have your cake and eat it too! Besides, the cake isn’t yours alone we made it together.

In fact, I was the one who made the initial investment in the company. Demanding half the assets isn’t excessive of me at all, is it? Why don’t you man up and stop dillydallying? Don’t let gluttony cloud your reason. Be careful -you might end up with money you can’t spend!

Although Irvin was born into a wealthy family, he wasn’t favored by his father. After his mother passed away, he was kicked out of the family with nothing. I was the one who invested my inheritance from my aunt into his startup, which later became his current company.

After the company expanded, it took over his family’s business.

Now, he was a highandmighty CEO who no longer found his wife profitable. He wanted to spend time with his one true love. Frankly, that was fineI had no issues with that.

But if he thought he could keep everything to himself and spare me nothing, that would be but a daydream.

No wonder you didn’t visit me once after I fell off the cliff and sustained severe injuries. Turns out you were hoping I would die!

That way, he wouldn’t have to split a dime!

Thinking of this, I noted that I must be more cautious around him.

Though I was making perfect sense, Irvin looked as if he had been gravely wronged. He looked so angry it was like a storm was brewing on his face.

Emilia, you’re such a hypocrite! You’ve gone nutsdelusional! You know full well I can’t date Lianne! Yet you still let your imagination run wild!

I frowned. Why can’t you be with Lianne? Once we divorce, you’ll both be single. With the blessing of family and friends, what is it that’s stopping you?

Why did he make it sound like they had some insurmountable grudge?

Shut up! Emilia, you’ve utterly disappointed me!”
